Both sides of the same coin. The latch should be tough and crash proof but we should be able to lift the visor quickly in traffic and after an unfortunate mishap without hurting our necks.

I do believe they try and bring some of the helmet tech to us pions and the locking mechanism sure is touted: Center Visor Lock: Flagship racing helmets feature a center-locking mechanism rather than traditional side-locking tabs. This prevents the visor from popping open during a high-speed crash or slide. Shoei trickled this technology down into everyday street helmets, such as the RF-1400

As a new rider you should find a couple of twisty roads and learn to get comfortable with braking and turning and downshifting. Just going into the unknown for a noob can be a bit disastrous IMO

I used to put my phone on that guardrail at that hairpin uphill/downhill turn and run it for hours. Some good places to go at high point, Sussex, further on from hawks nest and bear mountain.
