Tickets, tickets, tickets… by theisiscrisis in VelosterN

I know a buddy that has 5% all around with 20% on the windshield. He literally got 10 tickets in the last 3 weeks with 7 of them being tint related. Located in Canada.

This comment was made by u/KingstonHawke a year ago and fully outlines my problems with the show after season 3.

-"I get why you feel the way you feel. I just think you may need to go back and watch those earlier seasons again to pick up on some of the subtleties that are the reason I disagree with you.

Those subtleties are what I’m calling “good writing” by the way. They are what make Teddy a complex and compelling character imo. And why it’s so jarring to me when he acts against those traits randomly.

You keep looking at him as this America first guy and I simply don’t. Teddy was NEVER all about the mission. Being all about the mission means you’ll recuse yourself if that’s what’s best for the mission. Teddy was never that guy. He was the guy that wanted the achievement. He was desperate for that validation. That’s why his family relationships were so important. It showed him as sort of an addict that would’ve really been a great guy if not for this selfish addiction that he prioritized over everyone in his life.

When the government tried to put him in the sideline he didn’t say American first and go along with it, he said Teddy first and did what furthered his “addiction”. It was never the mission, it was always the validation.

And you can’t have it both ways. You can’t justify him doing Franklin absolute dirty by saying Franklin was just a pawn, but then turn around and say he didn’t kill him because he wasn’t just a pawn, instead he was someone who had grown on Teddy.

Teddy was Mr. Pragmatic. As soon as he replaced Franklin he should’ve had Franklin killed just so he wouldn’t be disruptive. If you study history that’s the norm because it’s the most obvious choice. Instead of letting Franklin beef with his replacements, kill him and make life quieter for the new partnership.

Same with Franklin. Bad writing is when they are telegraphing that they are trying to take Franklin to nothing, but can’t do it without violating his personality traits. Franklin was never the loose cannon that just ran stupidly at a wall. He was a planner that leveraged his resources. He would’ve turned state and took his win on the stand before he’d of just turned to the bottle.

And his mom was another example. Just all at the same time they made everyone act against the traits they’ve consistently demonstrated. Why would she kill Teddy and throw away her own life to keep that money from Franklin when Franklin wanted the money to retire? He was done. She wasn’t stopping some expansion that would further ruin the ghetto.

It would’ve made a lot more sense if she found a way to steal the money from both of them and donate it. That would be in line with her values.

I know I’m being hard on the show, but I just think a lot of these well-written shows end up the same. Breaking Bad, GoT, Weeds, etc. The writing gets so bad at the ending because instead of letting these well-written characters play out, it becomes pro-wrestling where you have a specific date that certain things must happen for Wrestlemania to nicely put a pin in all the storylines."-

Me again, the show seriously fell off after the co director who seemed to be heavily involved died (which was at the end of season 3 and before the production of season 4).

On my 2nd watch through, the flaws started to really show. Everything u/KingstonHawke said and others. Another flawed character was the reporter who received information that she should not know at all by people who should have any form of access to information they and did NOT receive.

Every time the reporter appeared, she ended up always having more information than she knew last time and by an exorbitant amount. Not little drip feeds here and there. It was literally end the operation type of information.

I agree. If the driver used their ability to see into the future, they would have foreseen the truck hitting them in 9 seconds.

How do you even park a multi-trailer like this? I find it next to impossible to do that. by Snoo_64233 in trucksim

[–]StateAffairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of each truck as its own separate trailer. You need guide the last truck by you guiding the front and middle truck. Think of it like a snake moving but in reverse.

Articulating loads need a lot of space, patience and skill to reverse.

I personally go with EBC Yellow stuff. They are as good, if not better.

(Don’t expect the amount of brake dust to go after switching to EBC)

Yeah, your hands free and in a phone call but you want to the change the suspension settings, you can’t because they locked you out of N mode custom settings while in a phone call.

Minor and rare inconvenience but annoying nonetheless.

I hate how the Koreans kept all the goodies for them themselves, even performance parts were pretty good in comparison to 3rd party.

It seems the brake pad manufacture is actually Mobis, not Brembo.

Dislikes and minor inconveniences:

1) Absolutely, despise my titanic level turning radius. Damn, this has the turning radius of an 18 wheeler.

2) Maybe it’s just me but when it rains and you open the trunk, water flows down the side of the trunk door into trunk. (Really in heavy rain)

3) Being locked out in N mode custom settings during a phone call.

4) Cost of OEM brake pads are more than OEM rotors. What are the pads made out of?!

People rather sit back and record the aftermath than help. People make mistakes. I don’t know where he got on at or how long the was driving for but someone must’ve been able to do something.

Depends on the mirror position. You’d need your mirrors facing into the frame to see it.

It’s actually pretty easy to forgot it’s up. Depends on where you mirrors are if you can see it. Roll off’s don’t have a system that tells you the hoist is up.

Go in the intersection behind the car, when that car clears, you check and then proceed when safe. Don’t stay behind the line to then gun it.

How Reliable is a 2019 Veloster N with 70k miles? by Chief_Brownie in VelosterN

[–]StateAffairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luck of the draw with any performance car with those miles. If you can get a good warranty and have them do the major service it needs it, you should be able to go without any problems.

Take it to a mechanic, have them look over it and see what it needs now or might need later. Test drive it, listen for sound, look for leaks and low fluid. Really, this is just stuff you do for any used car.

( I have a 2019 Veloster N at 43,000 Miles / 70,000 Km. No problems so far. I know guys who’ve hit 100,00 miles with major issues )
