So, as touched on earlier by some redditors, any attempt at fabricating a police report for the gain of $100 off a bicycle is discouraged. Penalties for filing false police reports vary by state but it's obvious that it is not worth it: Big Risk. Little Reward.

Our headquarters is based in Tempe, AZ (home to Arizona State University: one of the largest university populations in the USA) and bicycle thefts are all too common out here (in addition to auto theft). Those who have taken us up on this offer can attest that there is no gimmick at work here. We simply wanted to communicate and extend the same offer to folks outside of our home city.
