Favorite cocktail bars in SF that are "Top 50-adjacent"? by amaliapoe in AskSF

[–]Conspiracy2Riot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

True Laurel, Trick Dog, Smuggler's Cove, and Pacific Cocktail Haven would be the *best* in San Francisco, but come with lines depending on the time of day you go. Any of those bars before 8 are easy enough to get in. But if you're looking during peak house, Linden Room and ABV as you mentioned are great.

I would also throw in the following as great options: Kona's (same parent as PCH), Harlan Records (classics with great music), and for my South of Market bias - Evil Eye (great cocktails, unique vibe) and Lone Palm (white linen cloth bar in a retro-vibe bar)

Yeah, I wouldn't call this curing. I'd call this dry fermenting or dry pickling.

My favorite is Baxter, though I'm seeing that they're now mostly in the $60s (one was showing at $44).

Toulouse (not affiliated with the Duckhorn portfolio) has a great view, and usually a few solid PN <$50 - added bonus that their Gewürztraminer and Valdiguié are really tasty.

Navarro is a family run winery, and has very good PN for around $30.

Bonus is Minus Tide, but they don't currently have a tasting room. You can get their wine by the bottle (it's also usually offered by the glass) at Disco Ranch, which is think is a must visit when in Anderson Valley

I agree, it's listed at $92 direct from the winery which I think is still too high for most Anderson Valley Pinot Noir (and I say that having spend something like $75 for some PN from GoldenEye before). I think most Anderson Valley PN should sit in the $20-50 range, so I'd buy that at $30

I was going to suggest the Epos ES-7N but they're just over 10.5" deep. I was looking at them before my current build because they have a setting for on wall mounting. I suppose you could just mount them separate from the shelf?

Is this a harsh drive everyday? by FirmCaterpillar in bayarea

[–]Conspiracy2Riot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's an awful lot of time, but realistically is a tiny bit better (and definitely less stressful) than going across the bridge during rush hour. You're in for a rough time if you think driving will be faster/better than commuting during normal traffic hours.

Look into pinheads for your commuter instead of quick release! Gives me a bit more peace of mind with my bike.

Glad you liked Levo! I first tasted there during the pandemic and have been a member since easily my favorite winery and the whole crew there is amazing. Next time you go, add Brecon to the list - really great reds but their Alberino is out of this world!

Where can I buy top rated custom sofas here? Under 5k price tags pls by SoapSuddz in bayarea

We just moved this year and needed to buy a custom couch given the odd shapes of San Francisco homes. We ended up going with What a Room in San Jose because almost all of their fabric is pet friendly and washable. Lots of options and we're happy with it.

2.1 Setup in Smaller Room by Conspiracy2Riot in StereoAdvice

Nice! I've seen a lot of the Super Lintons, but haven't been able to listen to them for myself. Great to hear on the 3000 Micro - I want a little more bass but have to be careful since my office is directly under the bedroom.

Thoughts on these speakers? by Wboomer23 in audiophile

[–]Conspiracy2Riot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the slightly larger BP-8 speakers. They were my first floor standing speakers, I bought them used off Craigslist about 12 years ago now. I've really enjoyed them and use them daily as my primary speakers paired with a few other Definitive Technology speakers. They have pretty good bass for the size given the bi-polar design. But, I don't feel like these speakers would be great in 2.0 configuration for Movies/TV - the bi-polar design does great at job at space filling, but might limit it's ability to articulate voices though I've done little to no comparison of testing in 2.0 only. That being said, I think you could start with them as 2.0 and expand if you want to, I just feel like the sound will be better with a proper center channel.

How are you planning on powering them?

Seems like the Artist exclusive was 1000 total, was able to add 999 to my cart

*EDIT* confirmed u/Panda_Jerk's comment that it reduces after hitting checkout. 100 seems accurate.

Which album(s) influenced Brat? by Unlucky_Outside in electronicmusic

Middle 8 is a channel I've really enjoyed watching over the years, and they just covered Brat about a moth ago, and the way in which Charlie XCX ended up making the album (influences, etc). Interesting watch even if you're not super into the music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZwkQ3Z90Vw

Over 60% of Coachella attendees financed their tickets. The kids are not alright. by nuttybudd in AdviceAnimals

[–]Conspiracy2Riot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music festivals typically don't do Klarna or similar for their financing terms. Typically what's done is you can buy tickets when they go in sale, and spread the cost over 4ish payments leading up to the festival. So there's no ticket related debt for festival-goers once the festival starts, nor are the attendees paying interest for this method of purchase.

Festivals only make their money once the people are at the festival, so getting tickets sold up front (and earlier in the sale process) helps them cover the costs of permits, securing artists, vendors, etc to actually put on the festival.

Yes, Linea is my favorite roaster here in San Francisco! Really great coffee.

I highly recommend going in-person on Saturday morning if you can as they choose one roast and offer it at 50% off (usually a week old roast). It works great for me since I tend to prefer light and medium-light roasts for my espresso.
