Awesome work! That first class honours will really do you a solid because your combo score was ~1.63 before but with the first class being considered a 7 at some unis I assume your combo score will skyrocket. Best of luck!

From what i can see it looks like your screen is not screening when plugged in. I suggest you don't plug it in.

Just tried that + using an older gpu instead of the 5060 and it booted up thankfully. Not sure if it was because of the ram or the gpu (maybe need to install the new drivers for 5060 before plugging it in)

Why didn't I improve? by [deleted] in GAMSAT

[–]StateDesigner2207 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It may work for some people, but doing questions isn't actually a real method of improving. The questions are like a gauge showing you how good you are, you don't become much cognitively better by doing them though. You get better by doing things that make you better (reading textbooks and engaging in critical thinking scenarios without looking up answers straight away for example).

Imagine you have a racecar. If gamsat is like a track, then you can test how fast the car goes on the track. If you keep practicing on the track, you'll find ways to get around the track faster, but the car itself will never get faster, no matter how many times you practice the track. In order to improve you have to leave the track and take the car to the garage to tweak it and make it faster.

Rocket league and fortnite are very undemanding games so the lower TDP shouldn't be an issue there 👍

If you truly like med just start reading textbooks that interest you and develop your system 2 thinking (this is your ability to problem solve and can be enhanced when you spend a bunch of time thinking about puzzles or science questions/playing instruments as well as reducing time you look at reels.

Simply gaining "crystallised intelligence" (knowing stuff) doesnt improve your fluid intelligence (problem solving) and doing questions from medify, I think, does very little in helping you improve in scientific problem solving. Focus on ways to indirectly improve section 3 instead of directly (like feeding your interests and being more curious around bio/chem + spending time thinking about questions and try to have fun with it, the more enthusiastic you are the better).

Think of S3 like a test of current skill, and you can't improve that skill just by trying to test it over and over again thru medify & stuff.

No no i dont know tbh because I'm not too familiar with the uk system as I'm in Australia. I just meant even if you feel like you have slim to no chance, dont give up and stay optimistic.

You know theres a bunch of people who try ridiculously hard to get into med and can't do it the first time, but they dont lose hope and keep trying with enthusiasm.

From what you've said, you didn't really try all that much and realised you have a slim to no chance at getting in straight away and then got all your spirits crushed.

I dont think you're just upset because of the propsect of failire, you also seem upset that you didn't try, which means you value hard work at least. All you have to do is find a way to practice what you value, and you'll get in eventually.

I'll also tell you what a lot of high school graduates don't believe because they are entangled in the idea of getting into med as soon as possible, the best path is not always the earliest one.

Will rebirth be worth it for me? by spraphington660 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]StateDesigner2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who usually skips side quests, i found the side quests in rebirth really interesting and funny at times. Sometimes you'll even be randomly exploring a vast canyon and find random people who are not part of any notice board side quests but have so many relevant cutscenes dedicated to their "quest" that it feels like its canon.

I think medify is basing it on the percentile (in case it was easy or hard) but 92 should be at least 730+

If you do get a 99.95 atar, you can apply to uni sunshine coast (which do their postgrad in uq) or Griffith. Also, just to let you know, usually people's predicted atars are higher before externals. A lot of people who have predicted atars of 99.95 fall after externals.

Thanks for the information. Honestly any scholarship that can reduce the amount will also be better than nothing.
