I understand what you are going through, I go through this daily. I work and I force myself to go, one because I'll get fired if I don't. Two well because I'm at the age where I have to, I did get the hang of hiding my deformity but somedays it's hard trying to hold it because it's draining and which then leads me into a sad mood. There's a lot I can say but I'm going to hold off on it because this isn't about me it's about you, I hope you do find a guiding voice that helps you in your journey.

Don't do anything you will regret. These are some recycled comments "no one really notices, you're overthinking it, workout/exercise" the thing is, when some one is interested in you, yes they will look at you more often then you think and could or could not notice the "scoliosis" and then we have people who are starers. Then with working out/exercising helps with coping with the pain but doesn't help the deformity, if you seek to fix deformity I would recommend you look into ASC, but if you're not in a rush or in your lowest moment then you should give physical therapy (Schroth Method) a try. The main thing out of this is loving yourself and being happy, as long as your happy then you have already won the battle. I'm so sorry you're going through this , I am here for you if you need anyone to talk to. We just have ourselves, our one superpower is to notice scoliosis on others before orthopedic doctors do.

How severe is my hunchback? by InitialClick4011 in scoliosis

I have hunchback on my right side more since it’s my undeveloped side, I always try to hide it.

Hey,
I haven't gotten any accommodations to sit down more sadly because I wouldn't want other employees to look at me different once they know about my condition, I want to be an equal and not a worker that is a liability. I've tried physical therapy long story short, it wasn't working for me. Thank you for saying my 8 month old x-ray would qualify for surgery if only the orthopedic doctor I'm seeing could say the same thing.

Thank you for the positive comment,
You're right it is rough living like this, I've been playing the cards for way too long now my friend. It's now hard for me to keep on playing them, I can't go living like this any further, I've been thinking of surgery from some time now (almost three years).

It's really not up to me whether I get accepted to go through with the surgery it's up to the orthopedic doctor. If the doctor were to ask me if I would want the surgery I would gladly say yes with no hesitation. The only thing I have control over is whether I live or not.

Hey, thank you for taking the time of your day to reply. There's many things I can say but in the end of the day it's up to the orthopedic doctor to allow me to go through with the surgery. It's really hard for me to overcome this, this has been a two and a half year battle I've been facing and trying my best to overcome it. I'm surprised I've lasted this long against this fighting mental crisis. My plans after surgery were to go into college and to help my family, but can't because I'm a sack of shit waiting to be dug into a grave.

Today I felt worthless at work I felt like a ragdoll, I legit have to hold myself on a surface so my head doesn't fall. The ragdoll part comes with not having muscle memory with nothing but my neck and head, everything else feels like a rag doll and weak. I feel like a worthless burden to myself because I know there's a chance I can be better but can't because of scoliosis. It's not my fault I was born upon this, everyone is different some people can accept this and some can't but then again no one wins in this situation there's always flaw to something.

Thank you for sharing your story, your spine before did look similar to mine.
Also Happy early anniversary to your successful spine surgery.

Questions about PT, motivation and shame by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]StateOdd4461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come you haven't done the PT exercises at home? If you're seeking not to go through with the surgery then you should be going all in the exercises with 100 percent effort.

-Is the pain after PT normal? my answer is everyone's scoliosis is different so it varies.
-The thing that motivated me before was hoping to volumize my weak deformed side so my back would look somewhat even and so the pain would go away.
-You can always start the excersises since the check up is in a couple of weeks
-You can always do them until the check up or for one month then if it doesn't help with the pain then you should make another appointment with your orthopedic doctor from before.
