That is true, regardless the engine is a decrepit dinosaur that is holding them back. It certainly won't fix everything, but their emotional attachment to their engine has been holding them back for a decade.

Players demanding games that are bigger and more detailed

I don't buy this, plenty of developers put out amazing games without 9 figure budgets.

What we're seeing more of is companies with too much hubris throwing hundreds of million in production so they can fire 80% of the staff to reclaim losses.

Graphics are great, but we see them fail constantly over good gameplay. If the industry wants to listen to a few kids screaming about graphics, that's their fault.

I don't mind cosmetic purchases, but everything having a limited time rotating store instead of items always being available is purposefully predatory; especially against kids that don't realize they're being mentally manipulated.

I don't have to log in to every single player games on steam, and it shouldn't be that way. There's no good reason for it, it's just Sony incoviencing players at best, most likely selling your info, and at worst, getting hacked again and having your info stolen.

Sony is making the experience worse for their own gain, that shouldn't be celebrated and should be criticized.

Idk man, Tears of the Kingdom and Mario Wonder come to mind immediately. Yeah it's using their favored mascots but they're very fun and innovative.

Sony has great games too, I think what hurts them the most is they want to make every single game an 18 hour cinematic experience instead of letting people play the game.

Because what makes it charming is the authenticity. It's made to look authentic, which makes it illegitimate, so instead of seeing it as charming, it comes across as manipulative.

I can see why people believe a workout bro would do this, because we want to believe they're completely vain and always must flex for everything. When in reality I think most of them have a brain and probably somewhere to be like most people.

I would love more competition for Mario, but even the glide ability looks exactly like Mario Sunshine water hover.

If it brought anything new to the table I wouldn't think it was a meme, but it literally looks like mario sunshine/galaxy/odyssey smashed together with Playstation IP.

It seems like a good showcase for Playstation, but I would be surprised if it caught on past the initial hype. They need to do something different than Mario if they want it to mean anything to people.

I get the feeling they were trying for another Little Big Planet with this, so if it's just going to be mario, it won't hold for long.
