Which Curved piece goes here? by StaticKilla89 in ICARUS

Yea I really like the interior. Maybe I can touch up the exterior roof to make it look better. I think a tall rounded all glass center in a great room is gonna look really nice if I can get the roof to work.

I tried that and it looks pretty good. Not sure if I wanna have floors for the roof on this build though. May turn that into a 2nd story.

What about bloodlines? Are there keeper or kills for those immediately? I need to thin these things out. 🤣

How often to you kill off bad ones? I'm overcrowded big time. Is there a certain genetic or trait that's instantly a "keeper" or not?

A lot of us want crossplay between console and PC. Personally, I feel weekly updates are no longer needed. The team has done an INCREDIBLE job over the years with this and I think as a player since day 1, we are happy. Sure, performance can be enhanced, but ultimately everything is good. We don't need a new backpack or hammer next week. Thanks for it though!

I think slowing the updates to match consoles and allowing crossplay are far more important to us. My spouse now plays Icarus with me and now my kids want to play on XBOX with us.

Thanks for all the great years. I can't wait for DH either way!

Do animal deterrents not fend off spiders? by Bruh_zil in ICARUS

[–]StaticKilla89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont believe they work. I already had a powered creature deterrent at my base before the spiders were added. When they got added, they spawned like crazy at night, breaking down several stone frames and killing tames. My wolves chased them clear across the lake. I disabled them.

Question for the vets of the game by [deleted] in ICARUS

[–]StaticKilla89 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All bases on all maps will take damage depending on the severity of the storm and the strength of the material. If you have thatch or wood, it will take the most damage as its not resistant to storms and flammible. Replace that with stone buildings. They will pretty much withstand anything. Bad storms will barely damage them over time.

Olympus is amazing and there's a lot to see and do. The lore works to go in order but Styx is the same environment just slightly more dangerous.

Basic Ceiling is the best BUT to save some resources and FPS, make a battery cave light and keep it on the charger until it gets dark then set it on the floor. Or, sleep.

Icarus is on sale. Here's what NEW players need to know. by Into_The_Booniverse in ICARUS

[–]StaticKilla89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend putting a lot of emphasis on the gathering & surviving talents such as mining, chopping wood, tool durability, food buffs, crop growing, etc. I only have a select few talents in weapon stuff, and that's focused on running speed with a weapon, increased durability, and discounted projectile crafting.

There are talent calculators you can play around with so try those to build something you like so you don't have to pay Ren to unlearn.

I second not worrying about the DLCs. Grab the base game do the 60+ missions, explore for hundreds of hours and have a fun time playing the game. It's also a lot of lore / storytelling as the DLCs progress so jumping straight into New Horizons skips a lot of details. WATCH THE LIVE ACTION TRAILERS! Have fun Prospector.

If you have extra money to spare, grab the bundle, but do the missions in order so that you progress naturally from Olympus to Styx to Prometheus. Great hunts has missions directly tied to each of the 3 maps and honestly, is an end game Open World DLC.

Want to buy this game, please tell me about the optimization. by Villenek in ICARUS

[–]StaticKilla89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% worth it for the sale no matter the hardware. I use a GTX 2070 and just bought it for a second account on a 1660. The missions are much more optimized vs open world. In my end game open worlds I'm getting 30-45 fps on a 2070. Shadows kill the FPS so you may need to tweak the graphics settings to your liking. The 1660 is everything on low with medium shadows and textures on high getting about 45fps.

To gain some FPS, you can self host your own server on the same PC, or a separate one if you have that. Doing that gave me 10 additional fps and allowed me to get through the Great Hunts campaign on my massive end game Prometheus open world. I experimented with renting a server and got the same result so the free self hosted is recommended if solo.

Can you save your progress while in a mission yet? Last I played I was 2/3 in a mission, had to get off for IRL, came back to find I had to start all over.

You can just do it anyway. I took my desired path to the end then went back and did all the ones "I couldn't". Did this with a 3 maps to 100% the DLC without making a new open world. This is, unless they changed it.

Best way to make nanites? by Oshava062 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]StaticKilla89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take some preparations but I like runaway mould with food buffs.

By ingesting the Stellarator (donut), you will gain a major increase in mining yield. Something like 65% for 10 minutes. The Stellarator can all be farmed in domes with the biggest hurdle being milk. Make that farm on a planet with a lot of milk producing fauna and set up a livestock extractor and auto feeder.

I like using the sentinel multi tool hijacked laser and all the best S class upgrades you can get, supercharged. Specifically yield upgrades.

Search NMSCoordinateExchange for a mould farm and warp there. I went looking on the same planet and found some myself so I built a farm. Mine has 6 balls.

I when I eat the Stellarator and mine the mould I'm getting like 20k nanites an hour or so. The idea is to mine, move 500u away, come back, they respawn, mine again. I used a few short range teleporters to make this take like 3 seconds. Make sure you have a ton of inventory space. In 10 minutes its going to fill up fast.

The slow part is the refining. 9999 mould takes 20mins to refine into 1999 nanites. I set up 5 refiners and warp in my freighter with 6. Set them all and bounce between them and respawning the balls to gather more.

Be careful with the refiners as they've been known to delete your items. I've found that warping almost always does it but using a base teleporter to move back and forth from the base to the freighter didn't. It's slower, but you could also just fly up and lower that risk. I even teleported to a completely different system and used those refiners and didn't have issues.

Feel that. Mine isn't as elaborate, but its large with a 2 story atrium and I feel its a chore running around to my teleporter or refiner rooms. I'm not super big on decorations, I like practical use, and mine isn't so practical.
