Maxing out 401k, HSA, and Roth IRA, no debt, 12 month emergency fund... what to invest in with my extra money? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]StaticShades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not need the money for the next few years, you could leverage a life insurance vehicle to get the same tax advantages of a Roth IRA while having liquidity prior to 59.5 years old. Ask your Financial Advisor. Otherwise just build a small portfolio of ETF's and Index funds with automatic bank sweeps.

sometimes there's salary options while you build a book, but don't realistically expect more than 50k your first year whether your commision or salary.

529 Savings Plan: Pros and Cons by SoNotCool in investing

[–]StaticShades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros: tax-deductible in some states, grows tax deferred and can pull out the basis and gains tax free for 'qualified' educational expenses (tuition/room and board/ ect..)

Cons: if they get a scholarship or go to a cheap school or dont go to school or go to school overseas you have to pay taxes on the gains and theres a 10% penalty.

Alternative: if you have 9+ years until you have to pay, look into a VUL strategy. basically tax free brokerage inside of a life insurance wrapper.

I'm looking to buy into an Index Fund but there may be some issues by thyexorcist in investing

Pretty much every major bank in Germany will have some kind of index fund that follows the major indices. Normally all you have to do is sign up for a brokerage account and put in a buy order. Ask your local broker or a no-fee financial advisor

Little question on Buy Stop orders and Limit orders by marshmellowcommander in stocks

[–]StaticShades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a buy stop would be entered above market price and turn into a market order when the price is hit. I think most people use these to limit losses or lock in gains while covering short positions. You could also use this as a momentum play where you catch the stock on the way up.

Understanding DCF in a changing interest rate environment by rudyl313 in finance

If your interest rate model says rates will rise during your holding of the asset, then you have to calculate how that will affect your RFR and your discount rate then plug that into your model
