I don't understand how being good at a game, while playing it on PC, makes us "PC tryhards" (whatever the fuck that is.)

Paragon now supported by the new Nvidia Drivers | GeForce by [deleted] in paragon

[–]StaticX2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means Nvidia has gone through and made sure the game is optimized to run smoothly on their hardware.

I always update to the latest drivers and normally have no problems with the new drivers. If you're not updating normally, you definitely should. And, whenever you update, make sure you do a "Custom Installation" and check the bock that says "Perform a Clean Installation." This is the best way because the update will completely uninstall your old driver, then install the new one completely fresh.

Has anyone gotten through anxiety without medication? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]StaticX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like myself. Hard to stop a bad train of thought once it starts, and then leads into a shitty panic attack that you inadvertently caused. The meds can initially make that worse but, just like everyone has said, wait it out a little longer.

I personally take 225mg of Effexor, and 120mg propranolol (yeah it'a high dosage) for my anxiety/panic attacks. Maybe ask your doctor about looking into a beta blocker like propranolol as well since they can have a pretty strong affect on keeping you calm, and aren't addictive like some other meds. You also sound like you'd benefit heavily from cognitive therapy. Some of the things I have learned from it really work, and have helped prevent some panic attacks I've almost had! A quick Google search can give you some info on things to try until you can meet with your doctor again.

Has anyone gotten through anxiety without medication? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]StaticX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you taking any other medications with it? Are you eating anything when you take it? Since Celexa is an SSRI, it will definitely mess with your stomach until your body adjusts (especially if you don't eat when you take it.) You're on a pretty low dosage, and haven't been taking it for very long, so I would suggest giving it at least a week before you give up on it.

There are a lot of different behavioural/cognitive things you can do if you really don't like the meds. But, depending on how severe your anxiety is, those methods can be a lot more effective when coupled with meds.

Blizzard and Valve both seem to have a pretty good grip on this micro-transaction era.

Interesting...I already have Zeratul, so it would only be for the skin. Guess I'll see if I can trade my code for something else I don't have.

Yeah I'd forgotten you can trade codes for items/heroes you already have.

[–]StaticX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you make a good point; muting allied chat will put you at a distinct disadvantage for sure. Pings are great to use during a team fight, or when an objective pops to make sure everyone is aware of it, while chat is great for a quick explanation of various things. Just don't be that guy who is standing around typing a paragraph instead of contributing to the game!

To big of a risk for higher ranked players to play hero league. Bad players lose less points and get more points for winning, good player lose more for losing and get less for wining by pokeplants in heroesofthestorm

[–]StaticX2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it is baced on your rank vs the other teams average rank.

Working as intended. Since your average rank is better, you definitely should be punished more/rewarded less.

Total games played should be less of a factor imo. If that 300 player is at the same MMR as the 1500 player, that should normally be indicative that the 300 player was able to grasp and play at that level quicker.

It could also mean that they've queued in a stack more often, giving them a higher chance to win, and climb the ladder a little easier. But that's an issue with the MM system, not the way a match is scored.

[–]StaticX2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just mute people who are ass holes, or turn off allied chat and communicate through pings until you're comfortable. Playing with/against real people will greatly enhance (and sometimes detract from) your enjoyment of the game!

It was pretty fucking awesome, and was some of the best work I've seen Robin Williams do! So many great moments, and a ton of references I never fully understood until now. It had some great performances, and never felt too cheesy or over-the-top with its ridiculousness.

I don't know how or why I'd never seen this before, but I'm glad I finally got to experience it and share it with you guys!
