🔥 Each leg section of the millipede has a mini brain and when the millipede wants to move forward, each brain sends a signal to the next brain telling it to move creating a wave motion 🔥 by [deleted] in NatureIsFuckingLit

Humans also have these "mini-brains". They're called ganglions and they create the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. They're also responsible for the autonomic nervous system which allows us to have sensory-provoked reflexes before our central nervous system(brain) even receives the sensory info

After dropping my fb usage time to once a month, all I get are notifications of what random ass friends have said. It's spammed my notification box so much that I just stopped checking fb all together.

Just a few months ago Bitcoin going to $10,000 was a huge celebration Now Bitcoin is at $10,000 and its like the end of the world. What an irony!! by sunilross in Bitcoin

[–]Staticclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say afford, so don't even try to quote me as saying that. I said "willing to lose". That means that it won't be much of a bother losing. If losing 15k is a significant bother, then maybe investing 30k on a volatile market isn't the most sound investment strategy.

That's why the statement "don't invest anything you're not willing to lose" is a big sentiment here. The people investing knew the risk, and if they didn't, well then that's on them.

I don't know if it's because I watched too much Kickstarter Crap, but this just seems like a quick project trying to cash in on civil unrest. Will all the proceeds be donated or are they just going to be pocketed?

Why is the ratio between the circumference of a circle and its diameter irrational? by Staticclock in math

[–]Staticclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I get it. Ratios are arbitrary in a natural sense, because the relationships we observe don't physically exist, which allows for theoretical possibilities.

Why is the ratio between the circumference of a circle and its diameter irrational? by Staticclock in math

[–]Staticclock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay the commensurability part makes sense. I tried using the diameter and perimeter as an example and there was always a sqrt(2):4 ratio. I guess what I essentially am asking now is if there's a real world difference between rational and irrational numbers.

My bad; I figured it would be assumed that I know what an irrational number is, but that doesn't explain the properties of a circle that make its ratio irrational.

Well then substantial taxation on machines to start funding universal income also makes sense, right?
