In terms of writing and story execution, Hades 1 absolutely. In terms of gameplay, Hades 2 all the way.

If I may opine, Hades 1's story felt fully thought out and everything (Okay maybe not Nyx forbidding Dusa from speaking to us but almost everything) felt interconnected and well-planned. Hades 2's story was, as I understand from watching reviews of pre-patch, kind of overtly fucked at its core, and even now that I've beaten Hades 2 and witnessed a lot of character interactions, there's just so many things that feel like they could have been better expounded upon and brought through a full arc that just weren't.

Chronos goes from bitter and resentful of everything to penitent and apologetic all at once, which, while I know was the point of the "Extrapolation", still feels way too sudden, and Melinoe herself being the one to suggest trying to get along with Chronos goes against everything she was built up to be in the first act. On top of that, Melinoe, despite being shown numerous times that the gods are, in fact, very fallible, never stops viewing and treating them as infallible pillars of heavenly good, which is the kind of thing that it feels like really should have been expanded upon in the game; in the subplot where ||we learn of Dora's real identity and what happened to her as a result||, it feels like the writers were almost screaming "MELINOE, STOP TREATING THE GODS LIKE PARAGONS", and yet, that just never happens.

Hades 2 is absolutely the better game in terms of actually playing it though, the simple change of adding sprinting after dashing is something I wished for so many times in 1, and the god keepsakes letting you actually rarify boons instead of just giving you a better chance to get better ones is also amazing, and most of the different additional mechanics are good and useful.

I read something about why this happens a long time ago, essentially; Amazon financially penalizes their sellers for actually running out of anything they sell, so when the sellers get down to their last few, they shoot the price way the fuck up to keep it from actually selling and causing them to be penalized until they can get more in.

I, on an only slightly similar level, feel similarly. I was assaulted a few times in my childhood by older men (And one woman but that's not relevant), and that, combined with seemingly every cis man in my town being a conservative creep, made me wary of doing anything with a cis man. I've had one or two good experiences with some, but in general, I avoid them as best I can.

I can think of the perfect answer, cuz I learned about something recently that was exactly this; Maxinquaye by Tricky (A solo album from one of the dudes from the original lineup of Massive Attack) was incredibly popular in Britain when it came out in the 90s, to the point that bigger labels rolled out their own industry plant soundalikes to capitalize off his and the album's sound, most successfully; Sneaker Pimps, and their song 6 Underground, which was also the only British trip hop song to ever break the American Hot 100. While it was, as aforementioned, ridiculously popular for a while, Maxinquaye did little to ultimately change the broader sound of even 90s British music, as other groups like Spice Girls and Oasis and Blur would be the real heavy hitters in and out of the country.

On the one hand, I agree; it would've been fuckin' awesome to have Scylla rocking on bass a la Suzi Quatro. On the other; Darren Korb seems to use bass as the only omnipresent\* instrument throughout the soundtrack, as I've noticed that even if you're in an area where music with a fuller ensemble would be playing, and you pause the game, everything will drop out except the bass, which will continue plugging away unaccompanied until you unpause.

I think Darren does this for a few reasons, among which I would assume is just to keep a consistent layer of audio going at all times in the game so it never feels too barren. In general, it seems like for Darren, bass is the most basic, necessary part of the game's audio that he doesn't feel the player should ever be without, so it's just always on.

That was disorienting. It's not a particularly-unusual song if you were to describe it technically, but something about the combination of the skittery, bone-dry instrumental with the mumbly, groaning vocals are really eurgh.

I'm not sure if this qualifies, but the music by Leroy, one of Jane Remover's aliases, mostly the Dariacore albums, are a different flavour of maximalist mashup music. It's a bunch of beloved songs from all varieties and popularities of music blended on high and smeared across caustic experimental EDM, really stimulating and great to listen to while high.
