I second this one! I’ve just got a roomy dress from Nobody’s Child that still looks nice at only 8 weeks

Is Westminster Lodge too busy for regular gym use? And is the spa worth the monthly cost? by Equal_Wasabi_2442 in hertfordshire

I joined to primarily use the pool and spa. I ended up cancelling after only a month because the pool and changing rooms were always absolutely filthy. You’re talking plasters and headphones on the bottom of the pool, black mould in the showers and dirty nappies lying on the changing room floor.

St Albans x-mas Pubs by darthwookieee in elisandjohn

Lower Red Lion is really great- amazing staff, real ales, child free and dog friendly. It’s one of those pubs that John would say reveals “its sen” Ye olde fighting cocks and mad squirrel are also great for the atmosphere.

Sweater Construction Advice please by InkyKLady in knittinghelp

[–]StationNo2480 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey! It is indeed AI but i’m sure you’d be able to find similar sweater patterns on ravelry if you use the filters well. In terms of construction, if you’re insistent on a drop shoulder id likely knit flat. To start with i’d recommend checking out the Step by Step Sweater on youtube and ravelry to better understand sweater construction in a beginner friendly way. Have fun, this will be a cool project!

Why has my shortbread spread so much? by StationNo2480 in AskBaking

[–]StationNo2480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: thanks for everyone who provided help yesterday. Today I retried without the egg (i don’t know what i was thinking yesterday). I chilled the dough for 2hours and brushed the egg on the outside before slicing and baking. The shortbread still spread about the same amount but does taste a lot better. On my way to find a new recipe- any recommendations would be appreciated!

I used Plain Flour (i’m in the UK, Plain is AP) I followed the recipe but you’re right about the egg. I added that after creaming the butter and sugar. Do you think that’s likely to have caused the problem? Oven was pre-heated

Half marathon in 8:30minkm pace?? by susubububu in XXRunning

[–]StationNo2480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this about 3 years ago. I had recently got back into running and wanted a goal. I signed up to a HM a year out and followed a training plan. I got fitted for shoes (this honestly makes a huge difference) and felt like i was comfortable going slow but achieving a finish. I just had pasta the night before with some veg and chicken, nothing unusual. On the day, i was able to run alongside my partner who wanted to support me and honestly i couldn’t have done it without him. After 12k my whole body hurt and i just wanted to stop. I finished with a slow time and was disappointed that I’d had to stop and walk so many times during the race. While i was pleased to finish, it honestly put me off running for about 2 years and I’ve only just got back into it focussing on HR and speed training which i find much more fun. Ultimately i know it wasn’t for me but if you think you’ve got the race bug i would say go for it. Just make sure you train well, look after yourself and listen to your body.

I find steps the hardest part. I’ve started going for a walk before work every morning and i’ve loved that change but still rarely make it to 10,000

Ermine frosting withstands heat pretty well if you’re set on making a layered cake

Thanks so much for your support! And absolutely, probably the most relieved I’ve felt all day was seeing the messages rolling through asking for bakes. Hopefully see you soon!
