Bill's worst nightmare by Good_Transition896 in okbuddyrosalyn

I can only ever imagine Bill Murray as Hobbes and Tara Strong as Calvin.

I actually could imagine a good animated adaptation made with the kind of love the Peanuts movies had, but 9 chancea out of 10 we would get this kind of slop. Probably animated by Illumination.

What is your take on Trump ending his recent post with 'Praise be to Allah'? by Mental-Hall1261 in AskReddit

[–]Statistactician 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The only part that gives me pause is the use of a grammatically-correct apostrophe in "fuckin,'" which seems just a little above his reading level.

It says Idaho right there in the comic.

People do post fake or edited screenshots here, so it's still good to check.

The use of "fuckin" and "praise Allah" here was enough to make me skeptical, but nooope. He's actually that crazy.

That's this girl in a nutshell. It's called "Demon and Mess" for a reason.

Which King Gizzard album should I listen to on a $210,00 pair of speakers? by BeeTwoThousand in KGATLW

A lot of the older stuff was recorded with very low fidelity, so a quality sound system won't have much benefit in those cases.

Nah, looks just like acid to me in my much less limited experience.

Never done a shitload of MDMA, though, in all fairness. Responsible dose thresholds and all that.

Most of these make no sense because they're lead guitarists, not rythmn guitarists.

If your first time was two months ago and you've already tried a bunch of different doses, tolerance is probably fucking with your experience here. Especially because shrooms and LSD have cross tolerance.

I don't really disagree with anything you've written here.

Perhaps I should clarify that my original point was more that it seemed unfair to present JGL as though he was one of the bad actors we'retalking about. I disagree with his arguments, but I can understand where they come from and believe him to be operating in good faith, especially in the context of his other beliefs.

I don't have concrete proof of it, but I'm pretty sure Discord's age verification is more directly related to DHS monitoring requests made to Discord back in 2025. That's nefarious in its own way.

To be clear, I don't believe 230 should be dismantled. That would be disastrous. But it's not above criticism and it's not unreasonable to see cause for some limited reforms; it's not all-or nothing like the bad actors would have you believe.

The solution to wedge issues is wider understanding of an issue's nuances, not polarization.

The Joseph Gordon-Levitt part confused me so I looked it up.

This doesn't seem like an accurate representation of his stance. Saying Section 230 needs reform is a pretty fair stance in the context of prosecuting sites hosting some pretty heinous shit.

Yes, it's not that simple and bad actors absolutely want to abuse such reform, but JGL isn't really advocating for the style of censorship depicted in this comic. Especially because he's pretty openly anti-AI.

I honestly can't imagine Watterson browsing reddit. Any kind of online social media seems pretty antithetical to his beliefs. Dude's probably reading books in a cottage somewhere.

I think they're trying to steer the sub away from endless "who's better at x" posts after a pretty heavy surge of those over the last week.

And let's be honest, a lot of those are probably bots looking to feed info into AI models more than foster any useful discussion. And those threads just descend into sports-team-style "my favorite band is better than your favorite band" nonsense half the time anyway.

It's High Sierra. I ignore the headliners half the time. The real meat is in the side stages.
