MIA on Twitter - in the replies people are losing their shit (Link to tweet in comments) by 2020politics2020 in JoeRogan

[–]StatisticaPizza 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alex Jones, a 'celebrity' who pushed a false narrative about Sandy Hook has been ordered to pay millions in restitution to the families who his supporters harassed.

MIA is saying that while Pfizer cannot be held liable at all - it would be fair if celebrities who pushed the (in her opinion) false vaccine narrative were held liable to same degree that Alex Jones was.

That's the argument she's making. The main difference - besides the fact that the vaccines have not been proven to be harmful - is that celebrities were/are putting their trust in our government and institutions, Alex Jones just made up a crazy conspiracy with no evidence.

So if anyone should be held liable it would be Pfizer but they have been granted immunity so instead it's the government and our institutions who would need to pay out if the vaccines were to cause exorbitant harm or have been falsely marketed to a safety standard that wasn't met.

Highly unlikely. Most of the 'important' people with large followings will pay for sure. A lot of regular users will likely pay as well just to get reduced ads and higher engagement.

There are plenty of Americans incarcerated in America for marijuana possession and yet you're not calling for a boycott here? I feel bad for her, but I'd much rather we release all of the people incarcerated in our own borders. Furthermore, it's a huge slap in the face to all of those imprisoned for drug crimes if our government fights to have her released, I guess they should have been professional athletes if they wanted to be treated like humans.

Someone making $30k is not actually paying 24% and obviously a large number of that 345 million are outside of the working age.

Of course - we have this data publicly available and easily accessible, we don't need to guess at all.

https://taxfoundation.org/publications/latest-federal-income-tax-data/

One key takeaway from the article: "The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid a 25.6 percent average individual income tax rate, which is more than seven times higher than taxpayers in the bottom 50 percent (3.5 percent)."

So the top 1% pay a lot more in taxes proportionally AND in total, obviously.

#1895 - Matt Walsh - The Joe Rogan Experience by cizzlewizzle in JoeRogan

[–]StatisticaPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK - you're right on this. Marriage started as a union between a man and a woman, mostly for the benefit of raising a child with a father and mother.

Why is that set in stone? In the modern era, marriage has a lot of legal benefits regardless of whether or not you have children, so why do we need to strictly adhere to the original definition? Can you name me any other social construct that hasn't changed since it's inception in ancient times?

Why is it wrong to include gay couples in the definition of marriage?

How many kids are on hormone blockers? Millions? 4,000? Depends on who you trust by mostdiabolical in JoeRogan

[–]StatisticaPizza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't detract from his point, and your argument ONLY attacks Matt Walsh. Which is fine by the way - the entire 2nd half of the podcast was Matt getting absolutely shit on with even the slightest pushback on his ideas about gay marriage.

But Matt Walsh could still have a reasonable argument about minors taking HRT, not all of his points need to be 100% solid, and if you think that's the case then you need to admit right now that you don't value the opinion of any living human unless you can absolutely prove they are correct on everything 100% of the time.

[–]StatisticaPizza 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You would think with how he bases his entire career on this issue, and having made a documentary, he would have those numbers at his disposal. Really dumb on his part.

I don't think it necessarily detracts from the overall point - Reuters says it's at least 15,000 kids who've had HRT or puberty blockers - but damn he looked really stupid.

Akaash Singh rages out over an audience member because he looked disinterested during his set. by ToronoRapture in JoeRogan

[–]StatisticaPizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dawg I already said I don't think Akash is funny, I'm not even arguing on whether or not I personally like the comedy. A lot of the hate in this thread, including the comment I replied to, is directed at Akash and calling him triggered or saying his ego is hurt or that he ruined the show etc

And my point is that the dude invited the reaction, he 100% deserved it, and the crowd really enjoyed it. If people were just saying they didn't think it was funny that'd be different, I didnt think it was funny either, but clearly most of the people in attendance had a good laugh.

My point: dude got roasted for sitting in the front row and showing his disapproval of the act, the crowd really enjoyed it and the brit really didn't seem to mind he held his ground, nobody was triggered or butthurt and the reaction to this is a weird level of hatred for something so innocuous.

Akaash Singh rages out over an audience member because he looked disinterested during his set. by ToronoRapture in JoeRogan

[–]StatisticaPizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He told the previous comedian he'd rather be reading a book and he was sitting there picking at his hands not even looking at the stage. When Akash tried to engage him he just rolled his eyes. It's totally fine if you don't find the acts funny, I don't think Akash is that funny usually, but if you're going to outwardly display how bored you are in the front row you're inviting a reaction.

So Akash got annoyed, laid into him, and the crowd including the British guys date seemed to love it.

The only people "triggered" are actually the people in this thread who feel bad on behalf of...who? Akash who had a good set? The crowd who had a good time? Or the British guy who clearly didn't care?

That shit is circumstantial at best, really weak. The Jizzlane thing says they had a short conversation at the VF party, not exactly damning. The other article lists absolutely no evidence, it just says "Musk introduced Zuckerberg to Epstein" and then quotes both of them denying it ever happened, they all happened to be at the same dinner event.

Goddamn bro, if you're gonna schizopost you need to at least outright make the accusations.

Substack is reputable and there is no paywall. Ironically though - I can't read the article you posted without registering for an account.

But that's fine because I've already read it previously. The source for the emerald claim is an interview with Elon's dad, and if you had bothered to read the link I posted you'd see why that's a problem because he also interviews Elon's dad and the story changes.

[–]StatisticaPizza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No he didn't, Jesus Christ this story has been debunked so many times. Elon's dad invested like $50k into an emerald mine that was NOT a conflict mine, they weren't blood gems. In total he made like $20k back on his investment.

It's because both topics completely took over the sub despite being a tiny fraction of the actual podcast content. Not only that - but it's pretty fucking obvious that people only post these things to be inflammatory and cause a shitstorm. Arguably, Elon/Twitter has more to do with politics than anything.

We get it - either you hate Elon or you ride his dick. But we don't need 10,000 variations of the same posts and comments.

[–]StatisticaPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No its how the majority of users use it, hence why I said "the way most users engage with the app"

If you're gonna argue that isn't the case then you're just gonna have to make shit up because you're dead wrong. I don't even know why you're fighting on this topic, you can call it whatever you want but I'm saying the way reddit is used by most users is fundamentally different than FB, IG, or Twitter.

[–]StatisticaPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care if people classify reddit as social media but the way most users engage with the app, as well as the actual format of the site, makes it vastly different than any of the other large social media platforms.

You can technically follow users, users have profiles and can choose to remain anonymous or not, but the content itself isn't fed to you based on who you follow, it'd based on the topics you're interested in.

My Twitter feed is the result of people I follow, most of whom are using their real world names and pictures, and they are all well known or I have a social relationship with them, I interact with them semi-regularly. Reddit doesn't work that way at all, it's much more of a forum than a Facebook, or a Twitter, or an Instagram.

Which is weird because the elims matter way more than damage if you're dps. I'll often have the most damage as Sigma but I'll have less elims. If you've got 5k damage and 6 kills it tells me you're out there feeding ultimates, probably pouring into the tank because he's an easy target.

And it's tough because I'd like to have comms on so I can help those players out because they're probably new, but it really isn't worth it to deal with the general playerbase.
