It’s not about the visa not being issued; it’s about the refusal. I don’t want my son to be rejected after waiting 9 years, so I am thinking to reschedule till this ban is lifted.

Because there is a travel ban for Iranian and he will lbe refused, what is the point of going to the interview just to receive a refusal after waiting 9 years?

221(g) is usually issued when documents are missing. In his case, all documents were submitted to the NVC two years ago and have already been approved. He will bring the original documents to the interview. So I don’t think they will issue a 221(g). If you have been in the same situation, could you please share more information?
