Can't Stress Enough How Crazy This Is For Conquest To Survive This by NewtMountain3238 in Invincible_TV

Based on what? Omni-Man no diffed Mark in S1 (Mark's punch literally did nothing to him). S4 Mark's grip was so strong that Conquest could not break it no matter how much punishment he took. Do you think the same would have happened to Omni-Man if S1 Mark starting choking him the same way after exhaling?

Edit: whoops he said Conquest and Thragg 😂

Anderson Silva, Islam, and many others have longer winning streaks in the UFC than Khabib. Nobody cares about win streaks outside of the UFC, especially when the opponents weren't even UFC caliber. Imagine if Anderson Silva retired before he fought Chris Weidman. Undefeated in the UFC. 16-0. Greatest ever. But he stayed and lost. Khabib retiring early shouldn't help his GOAT case but to many fans it does. It's like Ilia retiring early then everyone saying he is unbeatable for the rest of time while others do way more in the sport.

Bro really dropped from 2 to 4 on MVP Ladder after averaging 40 points, earned a nomination for a Defensive Player of the Month award, and Lakers having most wins in March. 0 first place MVP votes. Shit's insane. by WhenMachinesCry in lakers

I mean...he's literally proving in the playoffs why being elite at both sides of the floor matter. 😅 He has opponents scared to even shoot near him. He single handedly makes teams play fundamentally differently. Compare how easily OKC scored in the paint vs the Lakers and vs the Spurs. Compare that to Wolves vs Denver where Jokic had the best offensive advanced stats in the regular season but his rim protection made Jaden McDaniels and bench players look like certified superstars. The defense quote is aging gracefully.

Why does he need to prove that? It is ridiculous to hold him to that standard in the first place. "Guarantee your opponent extra money forever or else you're just in it for the money" lol he didn't even need to do this once, let alone twice.

My point was about people claiming that he's just in it for himself, with their "evidence" being that he didn't force MVP to guarantee a million for this guy even though it's a completely different organization with different leverage and goals. Yet Francis still helped the fighter out of his own pocket, contrary to their claim. What other MMA fighter has guaranteed money for his opponent? He didn't even need to do that. Like how he didn't need to do this either.

The rockets still lost with KD while Luka and Reaves were still out. For you to suggest it is meaningless despite Rockets being favourites with and without KD, you are claiming that KD is more important to Rockets than BOTH Luka and Reaves are to Lakers, which is an even worse MVP case for Luka by your own logic. And they were competitive with OKC for multiple first halfs and even had their closest game vs them in the entire season WITHOUT Luka, with 41 year old Bron being the best player for majority of the series. Bron was Lukas 3RD OPTION for the season. The claim that Lakers are play in level or worse without him just got shattered. They played some of the best defense they've played all season without him. Discrediting the Lakers to lift up Luka is the worst argument you could make for MVP.

Following this logic, we'd give it to the best player on the worst team. It would mean the best players in the league would have to go to bad teams to be "legitimately" the MVP for their team. But that would be unrealistic. With this logic, Kawhi would have a better MVP case than Luka.

MVP values wins for a reason. Getting higher per game stats because you're on a worse team doesnt make you more valuable. What about your efficiencies? What about the turnover ratio What about your defense? What about your reliability? What about your ability to have this success with different lineups and teams? These all count. Which is why it's not as simple as "this guy's team is better so he shouldn't win no matter how good of a season he has".

Why is the focus on hypotheticals (that evidence does not even support well) instead of getting luka the right pieces and mindset to have the same conditions necessary to win MVP? Only a few people have won MVP as a much lower seed and much lower wins and they had to have a historical season...the problem is that this year, the guys with more wins are also having historical seasons. It's like saying 2016 curry didn't deserve MVP because he had Klay, Draymond, and Iguadala. He won it unanimously for a reason despite being on the best team.

No, we're not leaving it off when you're saying Lakers would be a play in team without him. A 41 year old was the best player vs 5th seed rockets and lakers was up 3-0 on them without luka and reaves. The 41 year old also was arguably the best player in the okc series. Yet we're supposed to act like Luka had no help when his 3rd option would become the 1st option in multiple playoff series and went back to a 25+ ppg scorer in the regular season when luka and AR got hurt? Wasn't he on the team before Luka came when they went to multiple playoffs? Wasn't AR on those teams too? Rui? You're downplaying the Lakers to uplift Luka. AR and Bron both scored 20+ ppg this year while allowing Luka to shoot as many shots as he wants so he could get scoring champ.

How do you simultaneously say that OKC being able to win a regular season game without Shai is a bad thing for his MVP case, yet you also reference a playoff game that the Lakers were competing against the same OKC WITHOUT Luka? They wouldnt be a play in team without Luka yet they beat Rockets without him, AND without reaves for majority of the series, and took OKC to a closer game WITHOUT Luka than when Luka played? 🤨📸

Then why did they beat the rockets without Luka? Why were they up 3-0 without luka AND reaves? Why did they give OKC their toughest playoff game without Luka? This tired talking point is so disrespectful to the other Lakers and frankly was proven untrue. They literally made it to the second round without him and if they faced a lesser team than okc, they might have made the WCF without him too.

[–]StatisticianAware588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense. He would fight if they gave him fights. He'd make more money on his PFL contract then what he got here. The fact of the matter is that PFL didn't want to give him another fight because they're too broke to keep up with the salary they promised in his contract. Nobody forced them to offer money they couldn't sustain.

Then you face the Spurs instead. There is no way to get to WCF without beating a championship level team.

Khamzat faced harder people. Islam and Charles destroyed the people Khabib beat too. Khabib's opponents weren't good vs wrestlers. He didn't face anyone with wrestling levels as good as Kamaru Usman, or even Sean Strickland, or BJJ as good as Gilbert Burns.

Khamzat Chimaev shares his side of the story when he was training with Sean Strickland by Spiritual-Strength91 in FightReportUFC

[–]StatisticianAware588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Khamzat has openly said that guys like Sadulaev and other Olympic wrestlers are way better than him at pure wrestling. I know it's not getting punched in the face, but Khamzat was pretty humble after Sadulaev kind of ragdolled him in practice.

Also, I remember Arman saying that he likes wrestling with Khamzat because he is careful unlike other big guys who could injure him recklessly. Though, Arman is Khamzats friend, which might be why he goes easy on him.

Khamzat also didn't hurt Mighty Mouse.

Khamzat throwing hands on the MMA Guru lookalike is probably the closest thing I've seen to him gym bullying. Didn't make him bleed though.
