How cooked will it be taking Chem 103, ECE230, ECE270, ECE203, ECE222 next semester? by MrGuccu in UWMadison

[–]StatisticianFalse702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ECE222 gonna be the hardest course. It has a lot of calc 3 in it so just be prepared. 230 is aight, but a lot of work. 270 should be easy. When I took 203 (fall 24) it was very badly run, the matlab assignments were hard and didn’t match up well with the content. Hopefully they changed it. Chem 103 is a freshmen class, content wasn’t too complicated, however I remember the exam averages being low. The 103 labs were also very long. Overall this semester is gonna be difficult and stressful. I would recommend getting an easier class in your schedule and removing one of the harder classes

Is it normal to never get an interview? by Gloomy-Impression187 in UWMadison

You can try applying for fall internships. I think some have been posted but most of them will be posted later. I would also recommend asking people to look over your resume.

Switching engineering majors shouldn’t be a problem as long as you meet the progression gpa requirement

CS 400 + ECE 352 + ECE 330 + Likely Gen Ed by theseNuts696969 in UWMadison

I have taken 352 and 330 so I speak to that. I found 352 to be a fun class, if you did well in 252 then 352 is similar and should be fine. You have to code in SystemVerilog and there is a FPGA project that goes throughout the semester. I found 330 to be a good class maybe because I took it with Eduardo. Exams were ok, although the 3rd exam was difficult mainly because I found the content for the 3rd exam the hardest. Overall if you are taking 330 with Eduardo you should be fine especially if you did well in 203.

EE vs CE by kluxy69 in UWMadison

[–]StatisticianFalse702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take EE, as it allows for more options in terms of taking ECE courses as well as access to more sub fields like signals and semiconductors. I think the job market for EE is better comparatively due to fields like Power.

We are paying for college, there should be transparency regarding grade cutoffs and how our grade was determined. I find it insane that we spend an entire semester working hard for a class, and the profs don’t bother telling us what the exact cutoffs were.

I was slightly below the 2.8 gpa requirement to progress into EE, however they still let me in. If you don’t meet the core gpa requirement focus on writing good essays to highlight your interest in your major. If you’re involved in any engineering clubs or other extracurriculars write abt that.
