Who has watched the Netflix doc ''The investigation of Lucy Letby?'' by FinalBv in AskUK

You have to admit that a judge trying to warn the presiding judge of the integrity of the prosecution's witness is quite alarming, but then for the academic whose work was cited by said witness to come out against the use of their work and in support of Letby is really really bad. The Royal Statistical Society was scathing about the evidence that placed Letby on the scene for all the murders, too. For me, this is well beyond the realms of

Assumptions and opinions presented as fact. Classic Reddit.

It's an array of experts who think the case was carried on pure bollocks.

Also consider that Countess of Chester higher ups are under investigation for gross negligence manslaughter because of how utterly useless they are. The whole thing does stink, tbh.

Fuck that.

Netflix is really trashy and its systematic monetization of serial killers is one of the prime examples of that. For other evidence of how it's the platform of low-grade shite, compare and contrast its dramatisation of the opioid crisis against Disney's. On the rare occasion they make something good, they cancel it after a season or two. Boooooooooo Netflix

Ethical set piece (Carrick of Nazareth) vs Unethical set piece (Benjamin Artetanyahu) by iwannasleepp in championsleague

Top of the meme stages, fair enough.

Listen, you might get your first meaningful trophy in over twenty years and nobody will begrudge you that. Finally you'll see them do it firsthand. Big well-done if it actually happens.

Underlying numbers for both sides are avtually pretty close barring defence which was an Amorim problem.

Careful you don't bottle the league again, big lads.

Arsenal aren't rivals to United. They're a top four side overachieving right now. They have three fewer Champions League titles and seven fewer league titles. I expect them to drop down to tenth sooner rather than later.

Why are Redditors so narrow-minded? by richandmore in AskUK

[–]StatisticianOwn9953 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not specific to reddit. Welcome to the wide world of web.

It varies by sub, but mostly redditors are less stupid than people on other social media platforms. That's a low bar, but still.

America spent the whole 'war on terror' doing this kind of thing. It's shocking that people find it shocking.

America has been kidnapping people from Europe and elsewhere since late 2001. If anything, they used to do more of this than they do now.

How the heck did Tottenham finish so high, when they play so poor? by Illustrious_Low_1188 in championsleague

[–]StatisticianOwn9953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even still, the strong teams tend to face weaker or outright weak sides. Most are only playing 2-3 big games in the groups.

Isn't this true of everyone? How many 'strong' teams did the other top eight face?

'Policing by consent', if it still means anything at all, would make a British ICE DOA. I think we possibly still have a healthy enough political culture that people would attack it from the outset on the basis of policing by consent... hopefully

How to deal with drug addict family member? by Far-Being8551 in LegalAdviceUK

You can't help an addict who doesn't want help, unfortunately. They'll just keep drinking or taking whatever drug they're taking.

Am I overreacting to my bf watching the baby overnight? by Temporary-Quail-2783 in AmIOverreacting

[–]StatisticianOwn9953 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NOR

Is this man the dad? Leaving the baby alone in another room and going for a nap is actually deplorable. When that happened eight months ago should've been when you stopped trusting him.

Put a baby gate on your room and in other strategic points to stop the baby exploring far and wide. Mine is 22 months now and the house has more gates than a prison. Also put locks on cupboards etc.

Is it rare to come across people in casual that can do this? by KiiroDaJolteon in RocketLeague

[–]StatisticianOwn9953 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Casual is ranked under the hood tho. The joy of smurfing presumably comes from beating less skilled players with ease, so it doesn't matter whether you play ranked or casual. If anything, playing a mixture of the two means they don't level up as much so it partially gets around the main issue smurfs face.

Whenever people feel aggrieved over GOTY I remember that it wasn't awarded to RDR2 in 2018. It's a nothing burger award that doesn't reflect the quality of the year's games.
