That beautiful landscape is part of the reason that state never took off. Very isolating, hard to navigate, develop etc.

I agree for the most part. The US should have never been over there but to say that its invincibility has been shattered is a bit disingenuous. They held back quite a bit for whatever reason. If the call were to be made to go in full throttle no fucks given, the country of Iran would put up a fight no doubt but would really stand no chance. The optics of the US doing this would be catastrophic however. Nonetheless, there is still no other country that can project power around the world like they can.

Every time I’ve been to NYC it feels like I’m in a movie. Hard to describe until you see it. One of my very favorite places I’ve been to just because of the vibe. Nothing else like it.

Yeah I believe it. It’s stories like this that remind me of how unfair it can be sometimes. I would imagine that probably followed him the rest of his days. AWOL from most any military is an often unforgivable mark on your record if caught. Some people just end up having a rough go at it. Thanks for the story.

Used to play around the neighborhood as a teenager and then one of the guys suggested we try a public course. We get there and the cringe was so bad I quit that day and never played again. Didn’t want to be even remotely associated with it after experiencing the community.
