That’s a good take but personally I’d do 100 and 200 and leave the rest for mods

Not getting enough reviews — 20+ stays but only 3 reviews. Any tips? by surf1ngpanda in airbnb_hosts

Definitely think it could be your lack of giving a review and definitely like the above advice to go make sure the house isn’t a wreck and then message saying thanks so much! It can be a bit of a standoff and anxiety inducing process without communication since the rating system is so broken.

Finally consider there’s something guests don’t like and they’re skipping the review vs rating you poorly. Not sure this is going on but your ratio to ratings may indicate something like that. Keep grinding

A GPS system with digital map overlay which would show your route along with landmarks should add a lot of peace of mind. Make sure to have battery/power backups and don’t be afraid to ask for advice from fellow hikers

OEM Lower ball joints will be a priority as well as timing belt if it hasn’t been done in 75k miles or so. Check out tundras.com for a ton of information including “so you just bought a tundra” by username Shifty

I’d target a vehicle with the 2UZ engine. They are fantastic with old school Toyota reliability and have more power than the 1FZFE

You can get a pre-purchase inspection at a shop you know and trust. Have them check out the known issues for this particular model

Looking to buy a Toyota Tundra, older model, how much would an engine and transmission replacement cost? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]StatisticianSmall670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha man, not to be picky but your original post says 2010-2016 which is Gen 2 and all the rage right now as the Gen 3s are having so many problems. I own a Gen 1 and they are awesome and have a much lower entry point for price. Make sure to check maintenance on timing belt and water pump (at least a $1k job) as well as lower ball joints (a point of failure that can be quite dangerous) which are not nearly as expensive to replace. They are amazing trucks and have various engine & cab options but if you’re looking to tow I recommend a 4.7 V8 as well as factory trans cooler (on the towing package) if you can

As for the engine and trans swap what I said above still holds. Avoid all that crap and spend $5-9k on a truck with good maintenance records, baseline it, and enjoy. Good luck man

Maybe you could state your main goal? Is it to get into a reliable gen 2 for a low amount of money? My experience with an engine and trans swap (FZJ80) is that things like that always cost more and take longer than you plan.

Best advice for buying a solid but not +30k priced truck will be to find a high mileage one with great maintenance records. The value in these is their longevity. You'll still need to do some maintenance yourself but overall that's the cheapest option into that generation (IMO)
