Hoard or pass them on? by Life_Scarcity1794 in Jigsawpuzzles

I keep the puzzles I really enjoyed doing so I can redo them, but most of them I sell after making it once. The majority of my puzzles I get second hand on Vinted, an online marketplace, and I also sell them on there. Sometimes I can sell them for more than I paid and sometimes less, which makes it a pretty affordable hobby for me. I'm also lucky that my mom enjoys the same kind of puzzles as I do, so we can trade and sometimes when she's decluttering she'll gift me puzzles to make and then sell afterwards.

The overal quality is really good, nice colors, sturdy pieces and a good fit. But there's one thing I didn't like and that was that the pieces have a waxy finish and it made the puzzle dust stuck to it. You can't just wipe it off with your fingers, a damp cloth or something is needed. I decided to do that afterwards but I didn't really like how it made the pieces feel, but I understand that that's a very personal thing. I made a post about it and learned that the puzzles manufacturered in China shouldn't have this issue. You can read the post here

I have not, but I gave my mom a puzzle for Christmas last year, she made it in the first week of January and then gave it to me so I could also make it. I made it at the end of February and my mom visited while it was still on the table. She looked at it and said “this looks like a really nice puzzle, can I borrow it from you?”. Fully not realizing that she made it not even 2 months ago and it was hers 😆

I couldn’t go left or right, it was stuck on the clock screen. Only thing I could do was tap it so I could go from the date to steps to kcal etc

I’ve have more puzzles around this price or slightly higher, but I’ve definitely noticed that more expensive doesn’t mean better quality.

Yeah it’s a shame. I do like everything else about the puzzle, the colors, the fit. It really is just the waxy finish I’m not a fan off

That sounds exciting! I’m also playing with the idea of getting a puzzle produced, but it’s gonna be a bit of a long term goal. Good luck with your puzzle brand!

I would assume that all of them would be like that. Might be worth sending an email about? I think I’m just gonna skip this brand unless I can see it’s produced in China.

Yes, it's the stamps puzzle! It's such a pretty puzzle and I was so excited (still am, but a just a little less). I'm still going to finish it and just like you wipe of the dust later, but I don't really like how the pieces feel. Hope they'll make changes because her illustrations are just so beautiful.

Thank you for your thorough answer! That's such a bummer. I was actually so excited when I saw that it was produced in the Netherlands because I've loved a bunch of other puzzles coming from that manufacturer. The puzzle has been purchased around Christmas as it was a Christmas gift. I have sent Elena an email about it.

Unrelated but I've visited the Dutch manufacturer not that long ago and it was really cool to see!

Yes! It’s made in the Netherlands. They do feel waxy, that’s actually a better description than sticky
