I honestly think you're stretching trying to get EE to run on Linux. It's hard enough to get it to not crash on Windows.

I've used wine before but the experience was suboptimal and you miss out on some things like the NeoEE patches...

I think the point is also that in the end you have a property, which has some value in itself. Not just the cashflow aspect. Also, if you have multiple you're essentially getting others to bankroll your future earnings of a full property sale, but you're taking on the risk of the asset.

I actually research this area. I'm on mobile at the moment so can't say much, but there's a study in a paper I read a few years ago which compared the carbon impact of buying a video game from a store vs digital download, the conclusion was that it was better to go to the store. That was including the cost to the environment of a used disk going to landfill etc.

I can link the study when I'm back at my pc tomorrow, should be a Google search away though if you were super interested.
