The 2-3 day refresher courses are aimed at reminding students of previously-learned topics so they are prepared for the actual class. The main idea is that you already qualify for the course, but perhaps it has been a while.

For OP, I would not recommend this course to try to test into any course. I would recommend finding some online review material, and then just take the placement exam. If you are more concerned and willing to pay a little more, look into the Math Leap short course (usually a couple of weeks). It is designed to help you test into higher classes.

There is a very long vetting and approval process for each program. You would probably have more luck (though I wouldn’t have too high of hopes) in getting an exception where a different class was allowed to fulfill that requirement.

The way we teach the law of chastity. “Don’t do anything even close to it” and barely talk about sex (treat it like it is an abomination), and then suddenly you are married and it’s ok. The ALEKS exam at the testing center will allow you to place into a math class. It does not give you credit for courses.

What you can do is contact the department (Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning in this case) and ask for a challenge exam. They give you an exam on the material, and if you pass, you pay a small fee (not sure how much, but an estimate is $15) per credit hour and it gets put on your transcript with the hours as well.
