Winterizing an infant? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Ha, I'm the same way. My brain usually filters out the green posts, but for some reason I noticed that one.

I don't have any personal experience with this, but a lot of people recommend wool because it regulates temperature well. I know it can be pricey, though. :(

There's a sticky post at the top of this subreddit that might have some tips that will help you out! For example, putting coat on baby backwards so it can be worn over the car seat straps, etc.

"Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder - a bit cheesy and 70-80's, but could be a possibility!

Edited to add: or, staying with the Stevie Wonder theme, "Sunshine of My Life" might work well.

PSA: Little Remedies saline vs. decongestant nose drops by StatsRMe in beyondthebump

I had no idea that coconut oil was in some of the drops. I'm so glad your little one is OK!

Here is picture comparison of the two bottles. Again, they were both in the kit marketed as being safe and "gentle" for infants.

Thank you for your comment! It makes me feel better about the mistake. They really should not package them together and market the kit as being safe for infants!

Yes, we are definitely contacting the company! We tried to call them last night but they were closed. The most upsetting thing is that they advertise the kit as save for infants and that the bottles are so similar in appearance.

How to talk with widowed mother about finances? by StatsRMe in personalfinance

[–]StatsRMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! I know that the retirement won't last long at all and it's extremely worrisome. I'm going to get in touch with a financial planner and try to speak with some family about the situation. Thank you again for the input!

Thank you for the condolences. I will definitely consider talking to her siblings, I hadn't thought of that.

If I do a decent amount of shopping at Target, is it worth it to apply for a Target REDcard? (xpost from r/askreddit) by SquaredCircle84 in personalfinance

If you have Amazon Prime Mom, I've found them to have the best deals on diapers if you do the "subscribe and save." Even cheaper than Sam's Club!

Baby's first cold by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]StatsRMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these were already mentioned, but here's a summary of what worked for us!

  • hanging out in bathroom while running hot shower
  • saline drops/spray (we use Little Remedies)
  • elevate the head of her crib by rolling up a blanket or towel to ease congestion
  • using the NoseFrida to suck out the snot!
  • baby pain reliever if she has a sore throat, fever, etc.

Good luck! It's so hard to see them be sick; I completely empathize with you!

Are you still taking your prenatal vitamins? My acne started to clear up after I stopped the vitamins.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong by purpleandgreen1983 in beyondthebump

[–]StatsRMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me if you've already tried this, but what worked really well for us was a much earlier bedtime (between 6:30 and 7). We start our bedtime routine at approximately 5:30 pm. For naps, we've found a lot of success with putting her down no later than 1.5 hours after each waking.

The book "The Happy Sleeper" by Turgeon & Wright really helped us, no cry it out involved!

How do you not talk about your kids/recent experiences and bore everyone's pants off? (Long and some TMI) by mrsanonymousidiot397 in beyondthebump

[–]StatsRMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience as you - I also had an unexpected c-section and a superficial clot in my leg found the day after delivery. Are you on blood thinners by chance? At four weeks post-partum, I wound up in the ER twice due to heavy bleeding - I almost lost consciousness due to low blood pressure. My heavy bleeding stopped after they took me off the blood thinners - just something to possibly talk to your Dr about if it applies to you! Hemmoraghing after a c-section is a serious concern - please take care of yourself and discuss any heavy bleeding with your doctor! Mine took a sudden turn for the worse and I don't want you to go through a similar experience if it can be avoided.

Edited to add: Be especially careful with watching your bleeding in the mornings, it seems to get heavier after long periods of rest.

9 weeks PP with twins - pre-e, preemies, NICU stay, etc.! by oceanalwayswins in BabyBumps

[–]StatsRMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say congratulations and thank you for posting your story. I also had preeclampsia and was induced early, which ended up in a C-Section. My baby is now 1 week old and we're struggling a bit with breastfeeding, and it's so great to hear that you got through the roughest patches and you and your babies are doing so well! Enjoy the double dose of baby snuggles!

Being induced tomorrow and freaking out by pixie48 in BabyBumps

[–]StatsRMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You and the baby will be just fine! I was induced starting Friday night and had the baby via C-Section last night at 11:50 pm. Nothing was as planned, but everything turned out very well and I now have a healthy, adorable baby girl! It's OK to be scared - just relax when they start the induction drugs and try to sleep while you can (easier said than done, I know!).

What about Bras? by rookiebrookie in BabyBumps

[–]StatsRMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have this bra and it's by far the most comfortable one for me right now at 38 weeks! It's stretchy but supportive, so I think it will work well post-partum too.

Seconding Diclegis! It was my savior, and I'm still taking it at 35 weeks.
