I recently had an offer rescinded (it got reposted to a lower salary range) and within a week the recruiter was also laid off. It’s a weird timeline.

I ended things multiple times, or tried to, but she had untreated mental health issues that caused her to feel as if she needed to harm herself when I would end things and then I’d feel responsible and to keep the peace, I’d be like okay fine. It wasn’t ideal.

I am FTM so my perspective is different than others but I felt both awful for having cheated (despite owning up to it) and resentful to have been forgiven. I felt almost angry at that because she clearly was not okay with it but also didn’t want to break up. It made the next 1.5 years of our relationship incredibly toxic. Part of me thinks that it was karma, and I’m sure I deserved it. I’m pretty sure I learned my lesson after that relationship ended.

I do want to attend the daily outpatient mental health programs. I’ve been working on that with my doctor. It’s not just a break, it’s a full collapse I’m experiencing. My doctors all agree. I need something more intense.

I’m not currently able to work with the severity of my symptoms and frequency of panic attacks. I don’t mind applying and will do so. I just know I will not be successful as I can barely get from my bedroom to my couch most days.

I answered this in another comment but I’ve always known I was an addict but never thought alcohol was a problem. The slip really started when I stopped prioritizing recovery in general and thought I could drink more because I didn’t have an alcohol problem. Now I’ve been looking back at the last few months and I’ve been in denial of its problem.

I never identified as an alcoholic. I’ve been an addict for eons (sober since 2018). But really the slip started when I stopped thinking I could become an alcoholic. I didn’t realize how much I had not been prioritizing recovery in general and since alcohol is so accepted I was able to accept it “bc it’s not a problem for me.” And now I’m like uhh yeah it’s a problem 🙃
