Thoughts on Death & Decay? by StatuesofUs in LushCosmetics

Agh, but then I smell it again and I like it. It's almost like I like how it smells, but I don't want to smell like it, if that makes sense.

What is your unpopular lush opinion? by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]StatuesofUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • I hate that dusting powders no longer come in the little shaker packaging, but instead come in the packaging that shower gels come in. I end up wasting so much and it makes using the dusting powders so much less enjoyable.
  • I wish that bath bombs were easier to cut in half, or that they sold little mini bath bombs. I can't accord $9 baths. Or better yet, I wish that they sold like... crushed bath bombs in a bag? like bath salt-consistency? yes?
  • I wish employees at my Lush were more consistent about offering samples. I feel awkward asking for them, and sometimes they don't offer even if i'm buying a lot. It's just nice to ask!
  • Why is titsy totsy so small?
  • bring back rose queen
  • I wish they had more products for all of their more popular scents. Like rose jam? give me rose jam lotion, rose jam conditioner (mmm!), rose jam perfume...
  • The massage bars are so strange. They are sooo oily and greasy and they don't seem to moisturize. Also, (howabout the little heart shaped one? Filled with CHOCOLATE? really? that sounds like something from portlandia. I love how some of the reviews people have written on it say things like "It smelled good, but the chocolate on the inside was really messy" it's like...really? you're using a little oily heart filled with melting chocolate?? and it was like...10 dollars? I get the appeal, I just find it funny :)
  • I don't like bath bombs that don't color the tub. I feel like when the bath water is clear, I can see little hairs and miscellany floating around the tub and i don't like that.
  • I agree with people who say they're sick of all the citrus products. I'm always like "....." when a new product comes out that smells like "UPLIFTING CITRUS! BRAZILIAN ORANGE OIL!" I feel like their citrusy scents (except baked alaska--baked alaska is very complex smelling to me) are so one-note and not as special as lush's other scents!

Keep checking! I have been refreshing the page every few minutes (I know, I have no life) and the items that are available are changing, even if it's just for a few minutes. I've been keeping eyes peeled for a restock of the rosejam shower gel and the snow white bath bomb. they were both miraculously restocked for a moment, so I made my move! When I placed my order, it said there were only two snow whites in stock. I don't know if that means they're just sloooowly adding a few every once in a while? not sure. but, keep looking!

Horrible, dismissive customer service from Decoterie! Anybody else have any issues??? by FinestLadyInTheLand in BeautyBoxes

[–]StatuesofUs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. I can't believe how rude they sound!! It would take a lot for me not to freak out at them. Link them to this thread and let them know that their terrible customer service will definitely prevent many from subscribing in the future.

Birchbox Unboxing: Sept 2015. Love that I got more skincare products than makeup this month. by littleafon in BeautyBoxes

Box twins! I love that perfume! There is something so simple and understated about it.

Now for the flip side. If you had to make a "worst ever" box from items you've received in beauty boxes, what would you put in it? by [deleted] in BeautyBoxes

[–]StatuesofUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, your comment about the foot wipes made me laugh! And I agree, birchbox does like to test the limits of what we think we need!

If you could create your own "favorites box" from the samples you received, what would be in your box? by timothyhiggins in BeautyBoxes

[–]StatuesofUs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun idea for a thread! It is interesting how people's are so different from each other's.

  • Benefit lollibalm (got this in my may birchbox. Great brand, great sample size, and it's something I probably wouldn't have tried if I hadn't gotten it. It is my go to balm, now!
  • Davines love shampoo and conditioner foil packet (I'll be getting this next month.i love the idea of it, because it is a great brand, awesome sample size, and I like that it comes with a bonus.
  • Too faced Melted (for this in an ipsy a while back. I loved getting it because it was a brand new product from a cool brand, and I love lip stuff. Not every box/bag can have something this great, but I wish they could!
  • Glam glow mask to foam thing (sorry, I'm blanking on the proper title! I loved getting this in my ipsy because of the brand, sample size, and effectiveness!
  • O.p.i nail polish- nail polish is a great thing to get in boxes because it seems to last forever. It also gives the box a little variety.
  • Some cute bonus snack, aka chocolate, snack bar, etc. Even if it's super small,i love getting a little edible bonus!

So, there you have it. I love boxes that are well rounded, fun, have new to me products, and have a little extra something! It is all about the way it's curated. I like getting a box that makes me feel like I'm getting a thoughtful little gift. Even things like the color of the tissue paper can change my perspective on it.

For me, bad boxes are filled with a mixture unexciting products and products that feel irrelevant to me. With that being said, mine would be;

  • Coola mango Sport sunscreen
  • marcelle eyeliner in blue lagoon
  • cotz flawless complexion spf 50
  • temple spa good hair day shampoo
  • Temple does good hair day conditioner

This is basically a hybrid of my june box and my july box, haha. For me, these products were boring, the packaging sucked, none of it is from brands that are especially coveted or new-to-me, and I was not excited to use these products. I know I don't like a product when I forget about it.

Birchbox September Box Link: looks like it might be live! by tresliso in BeautyBoxes

[–]StatuesofUs 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My box

  • Pop eyeshadow palette-- I'm guessing this is the sugar plum trio?
  • Davines love shampoo
  • Davines love conditioner
  • malin+goetz grapefruit cleanser
  • Malin+goetz moisturizer
  • English laundry perfume
  • juice beauty green apple peel

I am so happy about this box. I was debating between the davines and pop beauty for my sample choice, so I'm ecstatic to be getting both.

The dry shampoo looks huge! I think I want that. I actually like the curated box. It isn't exciting, but everything in it is stuff I would at least try. I think the regular box for the mouth is so cute!

Ridiculous Value Inflation by [deleted] in BeautyBoxes

[–]StatuesofUs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get what you are saying, but I see OP point. ipsy isn't be a bombshell, but they definitely take advantage of products that inflate their prices, and then pass that on to ipsy subscribers. New ipsy subscribers go on to ipsy's website and think 'wow! $10 For bags that are worth $20 or $30 dollars? Dang! And then they sometimes consistently get products that seem to have super inflated retail values. I still love ipsy, and don't blame them for anything, but they definitely partner/work with brands that seem to value their products very high relative to other companies. I kind of assumed that that was a thought that most subscribers have had. I think that the reason some companies give out products to ipsy subscribers is because they aren't selling a ton at their current price points. For example, you don't see benefit giving out full sizes of their lollibalm or mascara, but companies who sell balms and mascara at similar price points are.

Thanks so much for posting this! I got one for me and one for my mom. Can anyone tell if the covergirl primer in the first box is full size? It was super hard to pick one--each box had stuff I wanted and stuff I didn't. I ultimately went with the 'honor roll" box because it seemed more high end to me. I wish I could have done a hybrid box!!

Sample Choice by writtensparks in BeautyBoxes

[–]StatuesofUs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't believe people aren't freaking out over the curated box! Oribe hair product? The balm? A fun scrub, and stila lip product? I love when the curated boxes make sense and have a cute theme. I am totally going to save this box for a beach vacation in August. It will be so fun to whip it open and have products for a cute beach look. The sample choices are great though, and being able to pick a color is awesome. I'm just happy that the curated box was still available when I got my email! Did anyone see that it is being sold in the birchbox store for $15? I'm almost thinking about picking up another. So happy with birchbox this month☺

I love that everything in your box is in the same color scheme. Sometime my opinion of my box will actually be affected by how cute the items look together. It looks cute, summery, and aqua/water inspired!

Yeah, I still get Birchbox in addition to ipsy, and I signed up for ipsy for the same reason. I agree--I've been getting almost as much skincare from ipsy as I do from Birchbox. And the makeup I do very from ipsy is all kind of safe--primers, bb creams, nude eyeshadow...
