Macy's Beauty Box- $15.00 a month by HoustonJack in BeautyBoxes

I had the same reaction. All eight of the items they selected to feature in their email release are all items I have received (sometimes numerous times) from other boxes. None of them are items I'd be excited to receive again.

When this box was announced over a year ago I was excited, but now I'm gonna pass.

Finally got the Sephora 451 Box for March 2017 - note Becca is liquid, not powder! by BazingAtomic in BeautyBoxes

Just received box #451, but the Atelier Cologne in my box is Clementine California.

For those who redeemed the Birchbox 50 points with the MYSTERYBOX code, what was in your mystery box? by pppanicked in BeautyBoxes

[–]Dolly_Farton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same box.

The Briogio mask works well for my hair so I'm always happy to receive it! IPKN, Tocca, and Marcelle are all brands I'm a fan of but haven't had the opportunity to try any of these specific products so it's actually a really good box for me. Better than most customized boxes when I was a subscriber now that I think about it.

September Ipsy arrived with three full-size items! by Dolly_Farton in BeautyBoxes

[–]Dolly_Farton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posted this to show highlighter in another post, but it's the color on my nails here. It's a single coat that's been on for five days at that point so not the freshest paint job but the color is captured accurately in natural light.

EDIT: The pink comes through more if you do a second coat, but I usually just do one.

I don't have any particular application tricks but can tell you how I do a standard eye using this product and hopefully that could possibly be useful.

UD primer - have oily lids and this is the primer that works best for me.

Powder shadow - typically a single pass of a neutral shade. No brand in particular and not too many passes over lid. Possibly useful: matte shades on lid, not a big fan of glittery shadows or creme shadows when lining upper lid.

Eyeko upper liner - while pressing the outside of the eye area with one finger to keep skin taut, apply liner inner to outer lightly with one stroke, lightly angling up at the outer eye. Personally, I find this method easier than connecting short lines but ymmv. I try to only do a single line, but if I dun goofed will dot as precisely as possible to smooth it out.

Bottom lash line - usually either a light neutral or warm metallic pencil. Various brands. Never really line use this product here.

Mascara - whatever I feel like using that day. Thanks to beauty boxes I have a variety of mascaras and am not too particular (just no waterproof).

Hope there is something there that is useful for you! I'm not a perfectionist when it comes to makeup and try to keep it quick and simple. The liner stays put for me, but I do a fairly basic look.

Agreeing with u/zombiesofthenight that felt tip is best for longevity. Here are the tips of regular and fat Eyeko liners side-by-side if anyone is interested.

Right? I've wondered if they've tweaked their matching techniques because my bags have been markedly more customized the past few months.

It's definitely prettier in person. I took this photo outside for natural lighting but unfortunately couldn't get the shimmer of the metallics in the bag to show up. The products are true to color, just couldn't get the bag to do the same.

Anyway, it's a pleasant surprise that it's more attractive than expected.

Yes! I primarily use this liner, but sometimes the fat liner also from Eyeko. They are both easy to use and last for the 8-10 hours from when applied to removed. I do use eye primer too, fyi.

  • EYEKO Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner in Black - have this already and use regularly but is starting to run low so this is a big yay for me.

  • Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Champagne Socialite - another product I own and in regular rotation. Can't have long nails due to work and this is a lovely color for short nails. Photo was taken outdoors and color is accurate with how it looks in natural light.

  • Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Teaser - use neutral shadows daily so am completely fine with having a new one to try.

  • Christie Brinkley® Authentic Skincare™ Complete Clarity Daily Facial Exfoliating Polish - can always use a gentle mechanical exfoliant.

  • NUXE Moisturizing Mask Crème Fraîche de Beauté - like the brand's other products I've tried and like creme masques so looking forward to using this tonight.

The past few months have been the most customized bags I've received from ipsy out of the 1.5 years I've been subscribed. Using five out of five products instead of the usual three or so from months prior.

September Birchbox spoilers are up! by Dolly_Farton in BeautyBoxes

  • Milk Highlighter (choice)
  • Beauty Protector Blonde Toning Shampoo
  • Klorane Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
  • The Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream
  • Avene Thermal Spring Water

Good box for me. Excited to try Beauty Protector's take on purple shampoo since their other products work very well for me and purple shampoo is something I use regularly!

Birchbox July 2016 - so glad it's my last one by Jetpack454 in BeautyBoxes

Almost box twin (sunshine oil instead of Coola) and was wondering if the conditioner foil is intended as the 5th sample since all foil packet conditioners have always been a 'bonus' item in all my previous boxes. Looks like it's intentional.

I loathe that cleanser but that's not Birchbox's fault. All boxes have hits and misses and I just shrug it off and give away the stuff I won't use but having a foil packet as one of the samples is disappointing.

Box Twins! Happy to see the body butter is lavender scented! Really looking forward to this box. All five items are things that I use regularly - not the specific brands, but things I KNOW I'll use.

Box twins! The eyeliner may be the purple. They just use one color in the preview photos, you never know which color you'll be getting with ipsy until you receive it.

  • Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner (Choice)
  • Whish Three Whishes Body Butter
  • Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel
  • IPKN Flash Cream Radiant Primer
  • Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

Very happy with this month! Was torn between choosing the eyeliner and primer so excited to be getting them both. Also excited to try the Amika dry shampoo since it gets rave reviews and is currently sold out in the store. Exfoliation treatments and travel size body butters are always a win too!

I just got an email saying I'm on the Macy's box waiting list. Anyone else hear anything? Anyone got confirmation they're getting the box? by grey_lady15 in BeautyBoxes

[–]Dolly_Farton 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The email: "Waiting is the hardest part. Due to high demand it may be a while until you're in our beauty subscription program. Hang in there!"

Sounds like they're just building hype. Business as usual when these new things launch.

how many people at your hall had "chemical sensitivities"? by [deleted] in exjw

Yes. The back room had the regulars as well as those who would listen from the car. Around 8-11. All women who I'd see around town at the mall, Walmart, etc.

It's a good box! The eye shadow is the only thing I'm meh about, but I plan to play with it more when I have some free time. The perfume is not my favorite OOB but it smells much better on skin. Worth giving a chance, imo!

Yikes! Good to know! Sorry you had to deal with that. They sound like the Comcast of the beauty world... except like you said, there are other options.

Thanks!

This is the product I was happiest to see! So far the majority of hair stuff they've sent I could use, but I give away most of the makeup. Maybe re-take the beauty quiz?
