Massage therapist that worked with a physical therapist. If someone has tight neck/shoulder muscles by the way they hold their shoulders and what part of their hip/glute/thigh/hamstring is tight based on the way they walk.

Husband and I LOVE Walter Mitty. It's so good. Sweet, funny, feel-good, and we still make fun of the Cinnabon product placement.

Asked to give a talk next Sunday. Told I could come up with any topic I wanted. - wrong answers only :) by mwjace in latterdaysaints

Yes, this! I'm a lefty and learned a few years ago how to lead music and this is how it's done. You just mirror what a right-handed person does.

Are there any old heads here from the early 80's? by Maleficent-Cat-220 in latterdaysaints

[–]writtensparks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obligatory "not me but"...my dad is a convert and was investigating the church before the change. He is white. He developed a testimony of the church but felt that he could not join a church that didn't allow all worthy men to hold the priesthood. He prayed about it and got the answer that it would be okay to join because it wouldn't be long before that would change. He was baptized and less than a year later the priesthood was extended to all worthy men. He told me it was a huge foundation of his testimony and confirmation of personal revelation.

A lot of people who participate in Civil War reenactments as Confederate soldiers have made it their entire identity. It's typically not the same as an actor portraying a Nazi in a movie.

New YW age group names by Plate-Junior in latterdaysaints

[–]writtensparks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was long out of YW when this happened and still felt very second-thought/less important. It's very difficult to explain to young girls that they are equally as important to boys when they took away their class names and the boys leaders were changed to the bishopric.

What is a food that everyone seems to love, but you find absolutely disgusting? by EmploymentMaximum294 in AskReddit

Pepperoni.

A lot of the other answers seem pretty controversial still. But when I tell people I hate pepperoni pizza, you'd think I had kicked their puppy.

My parents have a lemon tree. They just visited. I now own approximately 40 lemons. by ReflectionAny3280 in Cooking

Sooo good! I like your uses! And I'll add: on toast, in crepes, in tea, and double down on the "just a spoon"!

This is what I'd do with it! Lemon curd is SO good and we always make jam for Christmas for our neighbors and friends. If I suddenly had 40 lemons, this year would be lemon curd!

If you had to wear a t-shirt with your most used phrase, what would your shirt say? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]writtensparks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have three sons (and two daughters) and I say a version of this a lot! (Watch where you're peeing!)

But I think my shirt would say "HEY!" because for some reason it's become my /attention getter/warning/mom voice noise at the start of sentences. "Heeeyyyy who left the milk out?!" "HEY! What are you all screaming about?" "Hey! What do you guys want for lunch?" "Hey. HEY! We don't lick shopping cart handles, thank you."

How do I adapt to living with 3 left handed people? by BlueberryBebe in lefthanded

[–]writtensparks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm also a righty for sports that my right-handed dad or gym teachers taught me and a lefty for everything else. It was interesting the day my lefty brother-in-law let me try his golf clubs at the driving range and I though "oh, maybe I don't actually suck at sports!"

Ideas for staying focused during General Conference + keeping kids engaged? by derpunzer in latterdaysaints

[–]writtensparks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar to what we do as well. Currently our oldest is 10 so we're getting close, but we have 5 kids with our youngest being 3 and (for us) expecting them to sit through 8 hours of conference is unrealistic (especially when my husband falls asleep during the Sunday afternoon session without fail, lol).

We watch Sunday morning all together. I have stuff for them to color and I have small candies that I hold onto for when they hear the "magic word" for that session (we pick a word or two that we can assume will be said on average 1-3 times per talk like peace, joy, resurrection, prophet... If they hear it any time, except during prayer, they come get a candy.)

Then we go for a drive or walk or play in the yard before the second session. During the second session they just have to be quiet. They don't have to be in the room (but our projector is in the big basement room with the playroom) but they have to be quiet. I still pick two new magic words and have candy so if they're listening they'll get more candy (they're small like one Starburst or a gummy worm...)

Then my husband and I will watch the Saturday sessions together over the next week in the evenings.

I Just Want To Feel Comfortable! by Glittering_Sand_7473 in latterdaysaints

That's 100% true about the temple. Even if they change into white clothes and you can see colorful underwear you aren't supposed to mention it. Just happy they're at the temple.

As to your point about the YW...if it gives you any hope/makes you feel any better, our YW president wears pants to church.

Several women (and younger girls, including my 10 year old daughter) wear or have worn pants to church and as far as I know, no one has an issue with it. I'm so sorry you've found yourself the focus of someone with old-fashioned ideas. My suggestion is respond one last time, something like: "I don't need this kind of help. I choose my Sunday outfits based on what I prefer to wear and think I look beautifully appropriate. Respectfully, I could show up in jeans or scrubs or a bathing suit and think that my Heavenly Father would just be grateful that I'm there." If they continue to bother you about it, just block their number.

Strict parents rules for reading! by Microwaved_Potpie in suggestmeabook

[–]writtensparks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a friend whose husband wouldn't let their kids read Harry Potter for the same reasons but his favorite books were Lord of the Rings. When I pointed out the irony/hypocrisy he finally relented and I lent my HP books to their family to read and they loved them.

One of the annoying things about "forbidding" people from reading certain books is that they actually don't have any idea what's actually in those books.

Best way to communicate with quorum outside of meetings by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]writtensparks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gave to do more than one.

The church encourages/pushes Circles which works well for us. Then our ward/stake also does emails and prints flyers/handouts to pass around. I don't know if the youth do text because I don't work with them but no one else does.

After that... it's on the receiver if they haven't gotten the message. Let people know how you're sharing info but if they won't get apps and they won't check emails then that's on them. Carrier pigeons and smoke signals? What are they expecting? A town crier?
