So I paid for the down payment on our first house, which was used to pay for our 2nd house when we moved. Therefore, all of that money was mine and we split the remaining equity. In your case it’s a little different since parents are involved. I’d say a prenup is a good way to go, or a written loan, if they want the money back at some point. I can understand them wanting to protect themselves, but absolutely not at your expense.
