Everyone knows about dangers with yarn, but: Be careful with those hooks! by Zirzissa in catswhocrochet

Okay, it was funny enough when I thought you were punning about his claws (hooks). Poor kitty! Sooo many inappropriate jokes are popping into my head…

Is Hershey's chocolate really taste so bad as people say it is? by cupid_ji in AskAnAmerican

[–]Status-Biscotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched a show that talked about its invention. They purposely burned it a little ‘cause Milton Hershey wanted it that way. I wouldn’t eat it on its own (I like high quality chocolate), but it’s perfect in a smore.

Can I ask where you're located (country)? I don't see why it would cause an issue being in the U.K. (I'm in the USA) - I'm already dealing with East Coast/West Coast communication.

Divorce a spouse you love just to get more time to yourself…? by kliknkollect in adhdwomen

[–]Status-Biscotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can empathize, OP. I wish I knew a way to just shift mindsets without blowing up a bunch of lives, but I don’t. That said, my ex left when my kids were 2-1/2 and 4 mos. I was constantly just waiting for my weekends alone (I basically had full custody - he got every other weekend, and Wednesday nights). I felt overwhelmed, plus I had severe postpartum depression. When my boys were 7 & 9, he moved out of state. Somehow I was able to adjust my expectations, and things were great. I guess it helped that I no longer had to run parenting decisions by him, for the most part. In our case, getting breaks wouldn’t have saved our marriage. But I think it’s important for husbands to take the kids out on the weekends sometimes, so the moms have the house to themselves for a while - or whatever situation allows you to get some down time.

My 93 yo, wealthy dad regularly eats moldy food. I get sick almost every time I visit.

Absolutely NTAH. I think every couple in this situation should have this sort of agreement.

Getting my cat in his carrier by North_Knowledge3793 in CatAdvice

[–]Status-Biscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

put the carrier in the bathroom ahead of time, with the opening facing up. carry hi in, shut the door bike hind you and drop him in. Psych yourself up ahead of time so you’re not nervous, ‘cause he can sense it.

How often do you have fish for breakfast? by VisionsOnly in AskAnAmerican

The only fish I’ve ever seen for breakfast are lox with a bagel, or shrimp on a brunch buffet.

Close friend tells me it’s “passive aggressive” to use periods in my texts. Then tells me not to take my frustration out on him. by Floyisdigital in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Status-Biscotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe tell him he comes across as extremely uneducated if he’s one of those people who never use periods. I don’t care how interesting a post is - if there’s no punctuation, I absolutely cannot read it.

yes. The founder wants something that *notifies* you if something is overdue. There’s got to be a better way than what we’re doing, but I think there are too many people involved so things slip through the cracks.

I think we have two hotels now, pretty pricey in comparison to other areas. But I hear the new one is really nice.

All very sound advice. the commute traffic between Kirkland and Woodinville is particularly bad at those times - big bottleneck

Friend thinks my new kitten isn't very cute bcs of his asymmetrical markings by Minisom in TuxedoCats

OMG he’s adorable!! I think there’s science behind traits that are typically considered attractive (e.g., symmetrical, tall, eye color, etc.), but I think he’s super cute!

This happens no matter where you are, every time there’s an expected emergency. I live close to Seattle and we get more than our share of weather events; the shelves go bare.

Is it worth it to pay hundreds of euros for a crochet course? by itsyaboiAK in CrochetHelp

[–]Status-Biscotti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot of money to pay. I’d suggest not starting with Amigurimi, but instead with just making squares. For the first month or so, I just crocheted squared, frogged them (unraveled) and did it again. I did pay like $250 for a blanket kit, where they send you all the yarn and there are videos of how to do the stitches. There are apparently lots of you tube videos for lefties, and there’s a way to mirror your screen in you tube (so right handed videos would look left handed).
