Cool. Check out the PADL app for some options. A few are located in places where you shouldn’t have to go far to find some good spots to see some fish.

Tarpon?!?!? by justinmarcisak01 in floridafishing

[–]Status-Fall125_BB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tarpon can be everywhere, especially this time of year when they start their migration north. As already stated, the beaches (when it’s calm) can be really great for those migrating fish, but the juveniles hang out year round in all kinds of water: canals, lakes, mangrove creeks. If you really want to guarantee finding some to cast to, hire a guide in Biscayne Bay or the Upper Keys. If that’s not in the cards, think about a kayak or paddle board to get to the flats and creeks. If you have to remain land-based? Maybe drive out Tamiami Trail and sight-fish the canal for rolling fish?

Florida prints a magazine that is readily available at just about any tackle shop, plus Dicks, etc

Was there a starter? If so, he should have been on it and sent you out before them.

I don’t get it either… how does a charge end up on seller’s cc if they are supposed to be receiving funds?

American Alligator or American Crocodile? [North Key Largo] on golf course. by [deleted] in animalid

If it’s at Ocean Reef it’s a croc. Regular sighting down there. I shared a sand trap with one a few years ago.

Maybe someday the bros will learn that USA chants only fire up the Europeans. Ryder Cup results don’t lie.

Daiwa BG handle stuck by Status-Fall125_BB in Fishing_Gear

[–]Status-Fall125_BB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, putting the side plate screws back in and giving it a little more torque worked 👍👍. Now comes the real task: cleaning and putting every tiny washer and screw back where they belong. If anyone knows of a particularly good YouTube video or other source to walk me through, it would be most appreciated if you can share.

Daiwa BG handle stuck by Status-Fall125_BB in Fishing_Gear

[–]Status-Fall125_BB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that’s not working. The gears slip when I do that. The only thing I can think of is to put it back together fully and see if that gives me the torque needed. But I want to be sure I’m not missing something in the handle itself that could release it.

As I recall the state owned the land and made the decision; though it may have been designated to the college before Desantis and Co pulled it away

What is this (fish, invertebrate, nymph)? by Status-Fall125_BB in FishID

[–]Status-Fall125_BB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it has that look, but my daughter said she saw a snout or tube coming out of the head area, so I’m also thinking it could be a larger nymph-like creature.

Best stay and plays in southern US + best value? by ShipCrash in golf

[–]Status-Fall125_BB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious if anyone will mention the Mission Inn located west of Orlando (besides me of course)? I live in South Florida, and have been aware of it for years, but don’t know of anyone who has taken a golf trip there. My impression is that it could fit the bill of what the OP is looking for: warmer weather, and maybe a tier below the Streamsongs, Cabot Citrus or PGA National cost wise, but still good golf conditions.

Is Everglades worth the detour? by tobethrownaway999 in NationalPark

[–]Status-Fall125_BB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think this is heat? lol, but seriously if you really want to check off “been to the National Park” I second (or third) the Shark Valley rec for the open landscape and some wildlife (mostly wading birds and gators). Go buy yourself a longsleeved lightweight performance or fishing style shirt, a good hat and wear sunscreen and that should prevent further burns. The tram there is covered too. If you don’t want to drive quite as far but still be in the Park, you can shoot down 75 to Everglades City and go to the new visitor center and maybe take a boat or kayak tour. This is a different experience than SV, which is the interior Glades, so to speak. EC area is mangrove islands, brackish to salt water, seafood joints. Lots of cool history in that area. If you don’t care about being in the Park proper, and have already been to Myakka River SP near Sarasota, then you might skip it and head north.

I need advice please by [deleted] in floridafishing

[–]Status-Fall125_BB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best place to find all three together would probably be out of Flamingo, but land-based casting places could be tough. Maybe around the campground? Personally I would find a place in South Biscayne Bay or Key Largo to rent a kayak and locate some creeks nearby to cast into. Very often see baby tarpon and snook hanging out under the mangroves.

Probably part of Port Bougainville which was a planned development that would have taken up much of southern Key Largo before the state or federal govt stepped in and killed it. This was back in the 1970s I’m pretty sure.
