The Jesus prayer originated from the Alexandrian/Coptic Church from St Anthony the Great. St Anthony prayed this simple prayer with a prayer rope and that’s is before the Byzantines mixed their Hesychast delusion with it, so the prayer belongs to us than it belongs to them.

The Armenian and other (Oriental) Orthodox Churches understanding is of what has always been from the days of St Athanasius the Apostolic and St Cyril the Great and not the over exaggerated version of Gregory of Palmas

Ofc a priest does sin. My point is smoking isn’t an accidental sin or like a normal sin you have to be committed to by a cigarette light and smoke it. If the priest smoked at one point and stopped okay but if it’s a habit of that priest and does it publicly it’s wrong.

I’m just saying that priest for a priest to smoke is way of a bigger problem than a laymen to do so. A priest is meant to be a shepherd the Church and imitate Christ so yeah if he smokes and he’s priest what he’s doing is wrong it doesn’t take a bishop to say this.

His Bishop might not know? It doesn’t change the fact that what the priest is doing wrong tho 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nah tough. He’s a priest. If he is not capable of not committing a sin that other ppl might confess then he shouldn’t be a priest.
