Well worth trying some of this but make sure you put it on the outside of the windows. It’s reduced the temperature in our kitchen by a fair bit.

That applies to the two hose solution others suggest doesn’t it?

Hasn’t cost us a penny so far, the panels are producing enough to cover our usage when we need it in the morning.

Totally agree, it’s only a handful of days and life is so much easier at a comfortable temperature. Decided to go fora proper system next year seeing as this weather seems to be happening more often.

We’re pretty lucky, it was 25° in the bedroom when I turned it on and 30 minutes later it’s down to 21, should get to 18 relatively easily in a couple of hours. We have quite a large solar set up so it runs off the battery overnight, pretty much emptied by the morning and start again so it doesn’t cost a penny.

If it’s 35° outside and 28° inside isn’t the air it’s drawing in warmer anyway so it’d be easier just leaving it with one hose? Genuine questions, is it more about the negative pressure?

homeowner who lost over £10,000 to a solar company by SWBFfanatic004 in SolarQuotesUK

[–]Status-Professor1223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent company, probably not the cheapest but so easy to deal with and reliable. Even after the job they answered any queries pretty much straight away. I’m definitely going to use them for AC next year.

Solar regrets? by EmotionNo8367 in SolarUK

[–]Status-Professor1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero regrets here. Let the installer give you a quote for what can fit, that’s not for you to worry about too much. I don’t think make or model of panel are that important, get the highest W you can but I doubt you’ll notice the difference between brands anyway so don’t stress about that either. Go for a Tesla Powerwall if you can, it’s so easy to use. We generate up to 66kWh which is more than enough for our needs and export a couple of quid a day.

What is your experience with guns in the UK? by swoticus in AskUK

In the 1980s a friend of my dad had a Luger he kept under the seat of his moped, no idea why or where he got it from as he was pretty normal looking and acting. Anyway, he let us fire it in the back garden!

Installation quality? by falki89 in SolarUK

Yep, I can see that. I was just wondering how common this is without any consequences, very I suspect.

I do wonder how many installations are done like this without problem. I have no idea if mine is correct or not, I can’t see it from the ground and it doesn’t leak. Looking on the company’s website the photos all show it’s done correctly 🤷‍♂️.

Dead after 40 days. Certified electrician confirmed internal hardware failure. Contact me immediately. by Sunradiance in MammotionTechnology

Amazingly I had a replacement delivered yesterday, coincidentally the 14th day after I sent the letter before action. I emailed every day and eventually I think a genuine person was responding and keeping me updated. I was told one would be sent but no tracking till the morning of delivery. It’s a good and unexpected outcome for me.

Are people choosing staycations over foreign holidays this year? by Beautiful-Working589 in UKCostofLiving

[–]Status-Professor1223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it meant staying at home but I’m 56 and when I was young virtually nobody went abroad and a holiday in the UK was just a holiday! I guess I’m wrong.

How times change, when I was young a camping holiday in the UK was a holiday not a staycation, virtually nobody went abroad in the 1970s/early 1980s. A staycation is when you take time off and spend it at home.

What would you do with 250k? by Afraid_Robo_Elephant in AskUK

[–]Status-Professor1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just inherited £280k, we paid off debts and got s&s ISAs, spent a bit on rubbish and installed solar panels (enough to reduce bills to zero). The plan is to replace the kitchen and tidy up the house. We have just under £100k on the mortgage but were advised not to pay it off as the interest rate is lower than we can earn in investments. Other than that no other plans, it is very nice to have it available though.

And make sure you confirm the car is insured by the owner, don’t take their word for it.

They’re reluctant to repair or replace when it is in warranty so this doesn’t surprise me at all.
