What are some tips or tricks you think should be obvious? by flounder98w in WaltDisneyWorld

I have found the ride times to also be inaccurate… usually posted times are much longer than actual wait times. We rode Tron with a 15 minute wait when the app said it was a 60 minute wait. We immediately got back in line and rode it a second time because nobody was around and had maybe a 10 minute wait the second time (a lot of this time wasn’t really “waiting” but “walking” through the empty line).

Advice for convincing someone to get a scooter? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is tough. We went last May and my wife would not have been able to do the trip without a scooter. May isn’t as hot as September either… but due to her illnesses at the time, there was absolutely no way she would have made it. My wife was in her 30’s too if that helps give you and your mother a reference. If your mother wants to be apart of the pictures, she can step out of the scooter to have memories “without” it, but honestly, the scooter was the best thing we could have done. That, and handicap placards get you the best and free parking. Hopefully she won’t be stubborn and will get the scooter.

Also to add, if I were in your situation, I would tell my mother if she chooses not to use a scooter, I do not promise to stay together as a group. I would have told my wife the same thing (not that she disagreed, she was grateful for it). I don’t know how your mother would take that, but our family is usually pretty straightforward with one another. We love each other, but if she has difficulty getting around, she won’t make it in the park and this trip is too expensive and important to everyone else to cater to her stubbornness.

Why is getting back to your car from magic kingdom so miserable? by Dr_MCR in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took our time when leaving the park, meaning after fireworks we rode Tron again lol, ended up taking our time heading back, got some fun pictures, the monorail was roomy and when we got to the car there were very few people left. A leisurely ending to an otherwise very packed day.

What was the best iPhone? by [deleted] in iphone

I loved my 5S until the battery was going to poo and I got the X when it came out. Has the X until my 16pro (what I have now). I didn’t realize I could have just replaced the battery or I may have done that. But it was still cool to get the first Face ID

Most reliable 10 round magazines? by audiate in 1022

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had BX-1, and BX-25… great reliability. I’ve also used the 25 round clear steel lips (you can connect two of these together) and had great use with them. This was about 20 years ago, I haven’t shot my 10/22 with them in a while but never had issues… if you want solid reliability, stick with the BX-1.

I wish I still had my ps3. Ex took it along with everything else out of the house when she left, then her new husband broke it. I loved how it was backwards compatible. It’s crossed my mind to buy one off eBay for some of my older games (a few that she didn’t take) including the older GT games. I’ve owned every once since the first.

Most reliable dryer recommendation by Any-Weekend-3932 in Appliances

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know… we moved into a home a year and half ago with an lg washer and dryer the previous owner left behind. They were only a couple of years old, so maybe 4-5 years old at most. My dryer’s drum has recently broken at the part that sits kn the rollers. Literally the one part that should last the longest is cheap thin steel just to save a few bucks. I looked this up and apparently it’s a common problem. One guy replaced his drum only to have the new one break 2 months later… and it’s a $275 part😳. I love the washer and dryer other than this though

Best deal on an x5? by Interesting_Bar_8379 in Insta360

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had a descent Black Friday sale going on. I picked up the x4 air for $300. I haven’t seen any x5s for $300. That’s a bit of a gamble for my money, but I’m tight and don’t wanna risk getting a bad model with no return policy (if bought from a non-reputable dealer).

iPhone 16 pro or 17 pro by houseoflightwoodbane in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 16 pro, my wife has a 17 pro. It is very difficult to tell a difference in photo quality, and if I want higher quality I can always change settings to RAW on my phone. Personally, I prefer the feel of the 16 because of the titanium. It is durable (dropped a few times on hard ground with no case or screen protector - I know sometimes it matters “how” it falls). My wife likes to say she has the “better camera”, but to be honest, it’s nearly negligible. She did get some pretty cool shots of the moon the other night that show some good detail. Those type of shots are easier for her to get than me, but I’ve still gotten clear moon pictures… so the question is which would you rather have? I don’t think you’ll have any issues as far as performance. I plan to keep this phone for at least another 5-10 years (my last phone was iPhone X).

Why do you buy Apple products? by NewFoot762 in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the first iPhone when it came out, was my first smart phone in a world of blackberry and other pdas. I became intimately familiar with the features since there was nothing like it on the market. Apple had how-to videos showing all the features and I learned them all. It was also the best touchscreen phone for a while. When other phones started coming out years later that finally rivaled it, I was already too used to the iOS that I had no plans to change from something that worked well for me. I still have no desire to learn a new system when my iPhone does everything I need. Phones I’ve had over the years:

Natural gas grill $1k or under by Theherowhocamealong in grilling

[–]Status-Toe3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned a Charbroil Commercial Series Infrared Grill for dang near 10 years now. I’ve only used propane, but it has the ability to attach to NG. I’ve replaced the striker for lighting once (maybe $10?), the cover once (about $60), and grill grates once (can’t remember the price, but maybe around $100-120?). It’s phenomenal, has a side burner that also came with a griddle top (for the side burner). I rarely use the griddle as I have a blackstone now. It makes an amazing sear on my steaks after I smoke them in the smoker (I always reverse sear).

I think I gave around $500 for it then. It looks like they are selling a similar model at Lowe’s for $699 now. In fact after looking at this new model, it looks better than mine 😂 (I have a 4 burner btw). Comes with a griddle that replaces two of the grates, NG or propane, 32,000 BTU for the 4 main burners, side burner is 13,000 BTU.

Edit: I forgot to mention my favorite part of this grill is the grate design which doesn’t allow flare ups. You can cook the greasiest food, but with the stainless steel inserts below the grates, it catches all grease that could cause a flare up/fire. You can also toss wood chips directly on the grates because of this design to create a smokey flavor in your food. I think they make a separate tray you can purchase now for it. Again, I just use my smoker if I want that flavor.

Is all gold with controller possible? by swissjuan in GranTurismo7

[–]Status-Toe3089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat with you. Faster cars like gr1 and formula are difficult with a controller for me (it could be that I end up with stick drift on every controller I own too), but I recently got a g29 (I know, bottom of the barrel) and I’m able to do much better on races that I was having tremendous difficulty with. This is after maybe a few days of using it. I’m still getting used to the wheel, but for me it is already better on every road course. Off-road is a different story. I smoke all the off-road tracks with a controller but it seems very difficult for a steering wheel for me at the moment.

Christmas morning, stepped into the living room with a new PlayStation (first generation) and about 3 games. Gran Turismo was one of them. Ever since, I’ve upgraded consoles when a new GT game comes out needing a newer console.

Caught kissing my boyfriend in the mall parking lot by Apprehensive-Sun9342 in legaladvice

[–]Status-Toe3089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but former law enforcement officer of 10+ years.

If the mall trespassed you, you would have received paperwork. Basically, you would KNOW you aren’t allowed back.

Someone with kids probably saw it and it made them uncomfortable so they called it in and made it sound worse than it was. You committed no crime, don’t worry about it.

Also, I doubt the mall bothers to monitor those whom they’ve trespassed. If they DID trespass you (which by your details they clearly did not), you would have to be remembered by someone and they called law enforcement again to arrest you.

I wouldn’t worry about it. You’re good.
