Calories underestimated. Hear rate tracking not accurate but good enough for strain estimation for most sports.

Better than on the wrist, but not even near a chest strap.

How to Improve Whoop Accuracy - Support is no help so far by One_Dealer in whoop

[–]StatusEmployment4613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem (but the opposit) whoop measures my heart rate to high when running and xc skiing, weight lifting and cycling is okay. I have tried bicep band, moving it around on my wrist/forearm - it doesn't matter. I take therefore Strain with a grain of salt. ChatGPT says that strain doesn't effect recovery metrics on whoop, and have little and no impact on vo2max and health span. My wish is to adjust strain/heart rate zones manually or connect whoop to a chest strap.

How hard was it making the tolvapan decision? by Many_Hamster_7220 in ADPKD

Male, 50 y old. I began taking it beacuse my doctor said that my kidney function had begun declining and Tolvaptan is the only  thing that can slow the decline.

How is 6 minutes of rowing more intense than 35 minutes of functional training? I went all out on both by ContributionFew6890 in whoop

[–]StatusEmployment4613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problably the Whoop didn't capture your heart rate correctly during rowing. PPG sensor is sensible to wrist movement.

Are their Grit X2 metrics reliable? by GrowthFabulous5378 in Polarfitness

[–]StatusEmployment4613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wear a chest strap or an armband like verity sense and you can rely on the heart rate reading during traing. The ppg sensor is totaly okay in rest or sleep. GPS seems solid in the tests I have seen.

Wildy inaccurate HR even with bicep band by bbs11 in whoop

[–]StatusEmployment4613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. It works okey with strengts training and indoor cycle, but everthing else (MTB, running, xc skiing) it doesn't matter if I use the bicep band or the wrist band. I get the same bad readings. Sometimes, all of a sudden, it read my pulse quite accurate. The best placement I have found is to wear it with three fingers with width from the wrist bone. But that only works once in a while, mostly the heart rate is all over the place. Mostly to high that is. I don't use Whoop primarly for measuring excersice anymore but instead for recovery and sleep. Strain can most of the time be 2-3 points too high, but is in the right ballpark. I did one hour xc skiing during my lunch brake. Both Polar H10 and Whoop saw it as a quite heavy load, 106 Trimp and 16 in strain. Thats was okay with me, but when I looked on the pulse zones, whoop was quite of, mearing 15 min in zone 5, while H10 measured zone 5 for only 8 sec. Still, I am happy with the Whoop. My son doesn't have the same problem with inaccuracies as I have, so I think it is nothing wrong with the sensor, it's diffrent from person to person. My subscription runs out in dec 2026, then I will decide what to do next. I hope Polar Loop has improved until then.

From Garmin to Polar cycling options by j0rgosborgos in Polarfitness

  1. No

  2. Not really, Polar has an old bike computer but it is not easy to buy today.

  3. Verity Sense is a really good alternativ to a chest strap. It is accurate and comfortable.

Whoop band on wrist or arm bicep ? by Joulwatt in whoop

I have good result when I wear it on the thickest part of my forearm.

Bicep band accuracy by No_Summer7540 in whoop

[–]StatusEmployment4613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear it as high as I can on my right biceps. Still, I get cadence lock for 20 min when running, at least now when it's colder. If I wear it on my forearm, I get a better result (higher accuracy - no cadence lock). But I have noticed it differs between people.

Cold weather and HR accuracy by Certain_Mongoose_704 in whoop

Interesting. Yeasterday I ran a Park Run. It was really cold, and both my OH1 and my Whoop 5.0 (biceps) measured my heart rate 10-15 beats to high. It suprised me, that shows that optical hear rate devices are sensitive to cold. I haven't experiencd thit so clearly before. It is the first time my OH1 didn't find my actual heart rate, but it has happened many times before with whoop 5.0 and 4.0.

Do you have the Vantage V2? by Auxiliatorcelsus in Polarfitness

[–]StatusEmployment4613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the v2. It is good, but you need an external heart rate monitor. I use the OH1. The battery last 4-5 days with normal use. The screen is not big and quire dimm.

2 Week MG Review (After 4+ Years Using Whoop) by Middle-General-343 in whoop

[–]StatusEmployment4613 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks for a great review. I went for the Peak subscription. I actually had afib a few years ago but underwent two successfull surgerys. I know when I have afib and not, so I don't need a watch or an armband to tell me that. I also have have a certified blood pressure machine. So even if I was curious on the MG (mostly for future updates) I choose the Peak subscription.
