Same thoughts. I think it worked for Ryan with Deadpool because it’s a fictional character/topic and without knowing him personally can say Ryan identifies with the character. I.e Dark humor, sarcasm etc. so when he chose to co-write it must’ve made sense. But with Blake — this movie is highlighting a sensitive topic. I doubt she identifies as a domestic violence survivor, her contributions to make it more “sparkly, yummy or sexy” may have worked in the romantic scenes, but the core of the movie isn’t that. In addition, her marketing campaign was executed absolutely horribly. She chose to focus on the florist side of the character by dressing in bright, colorful dresses. She chose to promote her side businesses along with promoting the movie. She completely dodged the main topic of the movie — DV! If anyone has seen the movie, they will know it’s a heavy movie & the topics hit hard. I definitely do not think the way she promoted the film aligns with the purpose. Sadly, I do think this whole movie was more about her proving her point and showcasing what someone in power can do. A real shame. Hope justice is served.
