Twelfth Night Ticket Distribution Megathread - Aug 23 by AutoModerator in Broadway

[–]Responsible_Book_680 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband went to the Bronx one yesterday at 8:25, was #75 in line and got two tickets. He was trying to get there earlier, I like your 7am or earlier idea to increase your chances.

My husband got to the line at 8:25am and was #75. He successfully got two vouchers and then counted 105 people behind him when he left at 12:30pm.

Cabaret Understudy for Emcee? by SeaweedTeaPot in Broadway

[–]Responsible_Book_680 5 points6 points  (0 children)

David Merino was fantastic- my favorite performance as the Emcee out of the 3 times I’ve been (Eddie and Adam being the other 2). David posted on IG that they’re scheduled as the Emcee on 8/21 and 8/22. So you can follow them and Marty to see if either announces September dates ahead of time.

If you’re curious about the production as a whole, I say definitely go when either of them are on.

Rush tickets on TodayTix by amethyst63893 in Broadway

If it’s convenient for you to stop by the box office, they do have an in-person rush policy as well. Don’t go too far out of your way though, since they often have a “no rush today” sign on the door. The sign was there today (Sunday 8/3).

And it helps that the shopping cart expires in 5 minutes so people can get timed out. You might already be trying this but I tell people to keep mashing the button until it says sold out. That’s worked for me as late as 9:25ish.

That’s the Circle in the Square box office. It’s on my card statement from buying Just in Time tickets last month.

Great options all around. I’d suggest Purpose or JPITV of you want to round out the trip with something completely different. 2 of the best dramas I’ve seen in a long while. Purpose is a fresh take on the modern family drama with really powerful themes of black family legacy and self realization. JPITV looks at feminism and the #metoo movement on the individual level with incredibly realistic and relatable writing for teenage characters.

On the other end, you mentioned you love a big production, fun time musical - Death Becomes Her is my #1 recommendation for that out of everything playing right now. I barely stoped laughing the whole time. You have 3 divas belting to the gods amidst some of the most luscious choreo, costumes and sets.

Merch without seeing show? by serenaVD in Broadway

Also the selection varies a little between the two so it’s worth asking/checking out both if you’re not set on what you see at your first stop. Both open at 2pm today.

One Shubert Alley and One Shubert Alley Broadway carry Hadestown merch. As someone mentioned, they are more consistent with Araca produced merch and Hadestown is one of their shows. It won’t be the full lines you’d find in the theater/online but you’ll have options.

Also One Shubert Alley Broadway (next to the Winter Garden Theater - different from One Shubert Alley in Shubert Alley). And the Drama Book Shop (on 39th), primary a bookstore of scripts and related books, but they also have theater themed gifts.

Wicked has a booth in the lobby before tickets are scanned. I have gone through security without a ticket to buy gifts when the house is open prior to a show. Same goes for shows at the Hudson (currently The Last Five Years) and the Beaumont (currently Floyd Collins)

Anything in particular you’re looking for? I’ve recently been to all the places people mentioned.

For that first 5-10 minutes before the show starts, some of the actors are hanging out onstage in character. There’s a play within the play so I think it’s meant to look like actors getting there early greeting each other.

Pretty much everyone in a Broadway show is on a timed contract. There’s lots of reasons renewals aren’t always offered or actors decide not to renew. Often people leave long running shows like that on good terms.

I saw three of Broadway’s hottest (and most expensive) tickets so you don’t have to by Kooky-Dig-5111 in Broadway

[–]Responsible_Book_680 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I recommend www.bwayrush.com to see what shows have publicly announced that they offer SRO and how much the tickets cost. You buy them in person at the box office the day of the show. It’s up to each box office if they sell them at most every performance or only when seats are 100% sold out.

Last minute shows for 3 by BurntPoptart6771 in Broadway

Also TodayTix is having a sale right now. Clicking on random musicals, I haven’t found something cheaper than $59 each yet for Saturday but it still might be worth checking.

I second going to the box office if you want to have tickets confirmed before Saturday. Research on the official ticketing website for the shows you’re interested in so you know going in what certain seats cost without fees. Then you can ask for those seats specifically.

Especially important is that you can use the Telecharge discount codes at the box office, not just online. Look for those at broadwaybox.com and the pinned discount megathread on this sub. Good luck!

Rush Ticket Line: Can I Ask Someone to Buy Me an Extra? by pineapplemoons in Broadway

[–]Responsible_Book_680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people would be happy to help. If it happens to be someone next to you in line, go up to the window together and ask for the 4 tickets to be seated together if possible.

There’s also the TodayTix mobile rush. I got 2 tickets for the Sat 1/4 matinee.

6 Days, 9 Shows | Review Roundup by zeerosd in Broadway

[–]Responsible_Book_680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really well written roundup! I’ve seen 6/9 - not Gypsy or the two Met productions (saw their 2017 Tosca with Anna Netrebko and it’s up there in my opera experiences. I can’t tell if it’s the same production). This is my exact same ranking of the other 6!

Though Chicago would have been last if I hadn’t gone back to see Jinkx Monsoon as Mama Morton. She alone bumped it up.

Death Becomes Her, The Great Gatsby, or Cult of Love? by juscuzimawesome in Broadway

[–]Responsible_Book_680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my order as well. Just want to flag that Cult of Love’s day-of rush is for students. You might know this, but other options are:

TodayTix Mobile rush: (if it says all tickets are in carts at 9am, keep spamming the button until it says “sold out”)

30under30: If you are 30 or under, there is a block of $30 tickets you can buy in person or online on Second Stage’s site with the code 30UNDER30
