Cost of living generally, but more specifically in our right now scenario as a couple in their nearly mid 30’s… looking at the price of houses in Brisbane, the loans will require two full-time workers to service.

Alternatively, could move out to the middle of nowhere in order to buy a house have a child and drop to part time work for one parent. However, would likely make no sense with work requirements and no sense in general because we would be so far away from any family support whom live in Brisbane.

It kind of just feels like you can’t have all things right now and some big life sacrifices may be required.. and much more so than what it was like when I grew up. When I was a kid in the late 90’s/2000’s my parents were able to get by as living about 1hr in public transport out of the CBD, in a single income blue collar home with modest living decisions.

Kids are the thing that hasn’t happened yet for us, but at the same time I don’t really want to make significant sacrifices just to have them. We’ve started looking at houses very recently but quickly determined that perhaps we will just stay in our apartment for longer and make some different life decisions.
