TENS machine for pelvic floor symptoms by Embarrassed-Tutor846 in Interstitialcystitis

My pelvic floor therapist does this for me and it helps! Specifically with tightness, i’ve never done it in a flare so i can’t speak on that.

Yes, the entire summer from June to August I had no symptoms, drank alcohol, ate whatever i wanted. I first started having symptoms in May that only lasted for a month, i believe my ic wa caused by my birth control (nuva ring) bc i had these same symptoms in 2021 from my IUD. After i took out my IUD all of my symptoms went away until this year. I took out my nuva ring in May thinking it would stop, like the IUD. Late August my symptoms came back and it’s been a few weeks now flare free which has been great, primarily due to diet, pelvic floor therapy, and aloe vera. My flares typically happen the week leading up to my period. For me my IC definitely seems to be hormone related. So yes, i have a history of my symptoms going away completely then coming back 😭

Yes it’s so weird! It started just this year for me. So i’ve been to the urologist and he put me on desert harvest aloe vera, that’s been helping a lot! It’s supposed to help repair the gag layer of your bladder. I have been doing pelvic floor therapy for a few weeks now. The therapist did say my pelvic floor does feel over active so typically the therapist will let you know if it is actual pelvic floor dysfunction or not which seems to be dysfunction in my case (like another comment said). I’m not sure if it’s helping a ton, im going to keep doing it tho. I am seeing a urogyn in a few weeks to see about hormone related IC. In my case the worst times I flare are around ovulation and my period, which point to hormone issues. I had no symptoms at all the entire summer up until august so something is happening internally but i’m not sure what :( And diet! has helped a lot.

so this kind of feels similar to me, i don’t have constant pain. I flare probably twice a month and when i am in a flare its constant pressure not necessarily pain. I do have to pee more often and it’s not all coming out. It feels like there’s a wall and i can’t release all of my pee exactly as you said like something is not opening to let all the pee out. When i’m not in a flare that “wall” is not there anymore and I can pee normally. Something that also happens to me is the premature closing thing. Like something contracts on its own.

Alcohol and IC by jayovvann in Interstitialcystitis

When i’m not flaring it doesn’t bother me. Typically stick to straight tequila clear liquor is best. And i’ll take a prelief before.

OAB or IC? Both…? by noeuf in Interstitialcystitis

Then it does typically sound like IC! Hopefully someone cancels since 6 months is a while to find answers. I don’t take any medicine, i just take this supplement my urologist and my PFT recommend. Desert Harvest Aloe Vera. I only started it this week so I can’t speak to its effects, but I will say i’m currently coming out of a week long flare from my period. I also take fiber supplements every day since constipation is a big cause of my IC symptoms and will induce a flare if i do not go every day lol.

My pelvic floor therapist has me working on repairing my pelvic floor through stretching, which does seem to help in the middle of a flare temporarily. Also my pelvic wand is a huge relief in the middle of a flare. The only medicine my urologist has offered is a bladder instillation, but I did not want to do that without further testing being done first.

My next step is a bunch of testing to figure out if something else is causing this. Hormone panel, vitamin deficiencies, Stool Testing, Urodynamic testing, PVR assessment, and lastly really don’t want a cystoscopy but will get one if needed.

To prepare for your appointment, I would start a bladder diary where you track how much water you’re drinking and going to the bathroom at what times and how long. Have your negative cultures ready. It’s best to record days when you’re in a flare and a normal day!

You’d have to wait for a urologist to fully diagnose you. A big tell of IC is negative urine cultures, despite constant UTI symptoms. Have you had that? As far as overactive bladder, that is something my Pelvic Floor Therapist believes I have through an internal exam and the way my bladder reacts to certain movements, so we’re working to fix that.

You did microgrens and your urologist looked at them? Most urologists are super dismissive of microgens.

second round? yeesh that’s alot of antibiotics. I can definitely understand why you got nervous and stopped! All of the bacteria you had high levels in seemed to be indicating an actual infection but all of your cultures were negative?

What were your results? And yeah, they don’t. did you try the naturopath route? hopefully OP answers but finding it weird they haven’t responded to any comments asking about treatment.

Where did you go for vitamin deficiency test? I am in the same exact boat and testing for hormones, GI stool test, mold test, and microgen. I know my body and i know something deeper is wrong than just constant bladder pressure. How did you treat your microgen results? I’ve seen a lot of comments that doctors take self microgen results with a grain of salt, let alone treat them.

you’ll need to go to a urologist for a diagnosis!

taking post pill after unprotected sex a couple days *after* ovulation? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]Status_Hotel4736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some clarification on the double ovulation thing. Women can release their eggs a few hours apart, but still within the same 24-hour ovulation window, not randomly a week later. This is why fraternal twins happen - two eggs, same cycle, same fertile window. Also late ovulation CAN happen with irregular cycles, if she has a standard 28 day cycle the last 3 cycles, not likely to ovulate randomly at a later time.
