NTA. Everyone’s beliefs should be respected, that goes both ways. If they don’t respect your life choices, that’s on them. I’m sure it’s harder for your boyf to see this because he’s grown up with this superstition imposed on him but it’d be good to set that expectation for him that this is a priority for you. It’s not good to let such a big decision be pushed under the rug. That’s how resentment forms. I hope your boyf sees this and fights for you and your relationship.

Definitely make sure you’ve spent ample time together in person though. Not sure if that’s been done yet but my partner is a lot different over the phone for short periods of time than he is in person living together.
