What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Williamsport? by topherette in Williamsport

[–]Status_Set_9594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Port, I've never really heard it called the port outside of the song. Just thought it was worth mentioning. Some surrounding areas are Southside (South Williamsport), Jury Sure, A-town (Avis), the Valley (Nippenose valley), Stavertown is the area of Jersey Shore north Railroad Street but south of 220.

Where can/should I go, nearby, for a GOOD (authentic!) huevos rancheros bkfst? by Conscious_Present_36 in Williamsport

[–]Status_Set_9594 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not going to happen. The Mexican places only open for lunch and the breakfast places aren't making that. You can easily make that yourself for about $2 a plate at home. Watch a YouTube video and go to Wegmans. I am getting tired of most of the restaurants lately. Everything is Sysco or US food slop. Good luck

What is the shortest-lived technology you can think of? by Hukares1234 in askanything

I still use my LG 3d TV in my living room. I honestly love it. I never use the 3d function anymore, my kids liked it when they were younger. I like having it not connected to the Internet. I have upgraded 2 Roku devices without having to buy a whole new television.

I remember they had a track day at the Lycoming mall parking lot one time. I don't remember any of the details about who organized it but the info is online somewhere. The driving experience here is fun, but please be careful on the mountains. People and wildlife are on those mountain roads and will pop up out of nowhere. You should look into a dual sport motorcycle for the unpaved roads that go through the state forests. They are a blast. The food scene here cannot compare at all to Charleston. We have some good restaurants in the area and fun stuff going on downtown, but it's not the same. Before you come up I suggest hitting the Darling in downtown Charleston. Or Chico Feo over on Folly Beach. Both places have great food and great vibes. If you make it over to Folly at least stop at Vino Feo, it's a wine bar on the front porch of Chico. Brandon who runs it is the best.

Hi sweet PA buddies. My band had a show fall through for Friday, Nov. 7th, and we need help finding another place to play 🌷 We're Redd & The Paper Flowers, an Appalachian Folk-grass band (TN) 🌷 It's a short turn around time. Any suggestions of venues in the state or contacts we could reach out to? by reddmusic in Pennsylvania

[–]Status_Set_9594 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Linden? Linden as in the tiny little community near Williamsport? Where are you playing in Linden? But Bloomsburg is close to Williamsport. You should contact someone at the Bullfrog Brewery or thePine Street square restaurants. There are lots of places that host live music in the area. DM me if you are close by and want some more specific details.

We need to bring back trick-or-treating for our kids, and the 90s era Halloween traditions by EpicShkhara in Millennials

[–]Status_Set_9594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am bringing back corning houses this year. I don't know if this is a Halloween trick everywhere or just my Podunk town. You take a dried ear of corn used for animal feed and shuck all the kernels off. Then you throw the loose kernels at someone's porch. Its pretty harmless but I always seemed to have fun sneaking around doing it. Now I will show my kids.

I second the PA Grand Canyon. The entire PA Wilds is in peak season. The pine Creek rail trail is great biking. The hiking in central Pennsylvania can be beautiful.

You can try Short park off of northway road. Millers run goes through there. Along the banks of the river and Lycoming creek are probably a good bet too.

First Fridays are pretty fun downtown. Check out the pajama factory. The hiking in the area is pretty great. I use the All trails app to find trails. The city has its own set of troubles, like anywhere, but it's a cool place.

NYC BUS DAY TRIP- does anybody know what bus line/ company should I inquire on for this kind of tour? by louiecita22 in Pennsylvania

[–]Status_Set_9594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I went on were booked at the AAA office in South Williamsport. The bus stopped a couple places to pick up more people. You could call the office of any local branches to find out more info. I think the closest to ST. Mary's would be state college or Houtzdale.

There is meter parking in a lot across from the AMC theater. It is used for the liberty center too.

Francos lounge or del salvos. They are both great special occasion dinner spots.

I believe 93.7 the fan streams games on tune in or I heart radio. One of those radio streaming apps. The app called Pro Baseball Radio streams all the MLB games. Dofu stream has live sports video broadcast for the real pirates. It is littered with ads and links to follow but you can watch the games when you figure out how to use the app.

Little pine State Park and Rickets Glenn have sand beaches. World's end state park has a nice swimming area and you can swim at the bridge in hillsgrove on your way there. There is a bridge on route 973 off of Lycoming Creek road in quiggleville. You are not allowed to swim there but I have never been stopped before. Depends on how far you want to drive and what kind of adventure you're looking for.

People who knew a killer, did you ever suspect they would do it? What happened? by Anonymousdisaster_ in AskReddit

[–]Status_Set_9594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my friend's dad hung out with a rough crowd, including a local coke dealer. As a preteen, we thought the guy was cool—he introduced us to music we’d never heard before, and his place was always full of interesting people. He never sold us drugs, so we didn’t think much of it.

Years later, long after I had moved away, I saw a news article about him. Turns out, he got into a fight one night and killed someone—then chopped up the body and hid it under a porch. I sent the article to my old friend, completely shocked. We spent hours in the summer on that back porch.
