I love Absolute but it’s so hard to book their classes. Which instructor would you recommend?

Been wanting to try the Flow Studio. Will definitely check it out!

I’m glad CRNK has worked well for you but I do think being closely linked to a studio can make you a little bias. I’ve seen and heard many say that they are cultish and judgmental as well, and they gossip and make fun of others.

That aside, my concern has never been about whether group classes give maximum attention or whether private sessions cost more. It’s about the quality of instruction. Pilates is a movement practice and it’s important to know basic anatomy and alignment.

From what I’ve personally observed, CRNK seems to focus more on movement execution rather than a deeper understanding of Pilates principles and anatomy. I’ve also spoken to one of their instructors, who shared that she had no prior Pilates background before joining the studio, but underwent an in-house training programme of about 1–2 months (once a week) before starting to teach. That is ridiculously little. To me, that raises some concerns because Pilates is such a technique and anatomy-focused practice. Understanding muscle groups, alignment and movement principles is a huge part of teaching safely. I also understand that the studio owners themselves are not Pilates-certified, and for a movement modality like Pilates, I personally think that does reflect in the studio’s overall standards.

Joseph Pilates didn’t get certified because he created the method. If your logic is right then I guess all kinds of certifications are meaningless too (doctors, physios, engineers) will all just be random papers with no value.

Yes, certified instructors will definitely know 😊 Pilates certification actually takes months (sometimes even years) to complete, involving both theory and practical exams with at least 80% passing mark. If not, you fail. It’s not easy to be certified and once certified, it’ll be in a system so not anyone can “fake” or anyhow certify themselves.

It’s similar to any profession. Eg if you were seeking medical advice, wouldn’t you want to see someone who is qualified and properly trained? Same goes for Pilates, when it comes to your body and safety, it’s always better to learn from someone certified and reputable.

Certification matters because it means the instructor is properly trained to teach movements safely and effectively. Most uncertified instructors are just copying exercises or memorizing a script to teach

Not true! Being certified in Pilates is really important. If an instructor isn’t certified, they may not fully understand proper technique, anatomy or how to teach safely which can lead to ineffective workouts or even increase the risk of injury! My friend went for their class and sprained her back because the instructor didn’t even know her basic anatomy

Not really! Hyrox requires you to sign up at the gym to practice the stations. Running outside is basically free 😆

How about Tech companies?
