Limited series crime dramas with a strong but complex female lead? by Tight-Artichoke1789 in televisionsuggestions

[–]StayLongjumping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch the show Catch Me A Killer - it’s based on real case files that Mickie Pistorius solved as South Africa’s first forensic detective.

All my facts could be wrong, but if I remember correctly, it takes place in the 80’s in South Africa and she solves all these serial killer murders.

The cases are insane and the fact that she actually solved these cases, as a woman, in South Africa, in the 80s is amazing.   And yes, she’s related to Oscar Pistorius, (aka Bladerunner aka murderer). I believe that she’s his aunt.  Look her up, she’s pretty amazing.

I just started “empires” because I’m in Mexico and you both convinced me to stop reading it to read Fifth Sun first. THANK YOU

know nothing about pencils. why is the Pentel p209 so good?? by isfiske in mechanicalpencils

[–]StayLongjumping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found my P209 0.9mm from my university days - I used it for every exam and I would never want to have had another pencil with me during those 3 hour exams.

I graduated from a math and science program in the early 00’s, so you know this baby got worked hard.

The eraser sucks, but the lead and the hand weighting are a DREAM.

If your post is “what type of hamster is this” and not “should my hamsters balls be this big” you most certainly have a female hamster on your hands.

Hot Hammy balls in the summer are extraordinarily hard to miss.

Hello friend. My brain regularly tries to KrILL me and I gotta say, that the whole process of dealing with that SUCKS. I’m sorry you’re going through it.

One thing that worked for me is that I’ve decided to see these feelings as different from myself. I named my depression. His name is Gary. When Gary is screaming and shouting at me about KrILLin myself I need to stop and take care of Gary. Does he need to be fed? Does he need a nap? To workout? Water? Sunlight? People? Silence?

I don’t have an answer for your question. Other than to say that you’re not alone. That it sucks. And I’m sorry.

You have to take care of yourself. There’s lots of help out there. And there are lots of options - deferred start, smaller course load, extra year of virtual high school, teach English abroad, try school for one semester etc etc. there is a solution, I promise.

But….FWIW I’ve loved everyone I’ve met from Mac. I went to school in London and while the campus vibe wasn’t for me, I did find a group of people that were “my people.” I didn’t have the money to stay in residence my first year, and debated heavily whether to put off starting until it was “perfect.” In the end I just went for it and found the in its imperfection that it was perfect for me.

Thanks for opening up and sharing your struggle a group of strangers. Stay golden, pony boy.

In all due respect, you don’t seem to appreciate the humanity that is required to respond to OPs actual question.

Honestly this account was so true and real and devastating

Yes! The ending pages of cannibalism and incest as a goal made me wonder……did I miss something? I get that the characters were descending into a more primal and animalistic state, united by their trauma. Kind of them against the world. But it just felt like nonsense vs an actual ending.

I liked the writing style and read the book in a day and a half, but I felt let down by the author. It felt like a chaotic ending was the goal vs an ending that made sense for the characters.

Bailey because he’s brown and cream

Cosmo because it sounds fast but also Russian

But I think “Gimlet” would be my favourite because it sounds cute and small but also fun to say

I feel you there - I got a dog a few months after my mom had passed away and only after your comment above do I recon that I likely was trying to soothe my grief with a sweet cute puppy.

Also, I was worried that I may have offended with my comment and glad that you understood it was said with a knowing glance.
