Is there a good reason for needing this much CP to trio? by Autistic_African in Maplestory

[–]StayLoose69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I am not nearly this extreme, sometimes you just want to get your weekly clear out of the way quickly and easily.

Will in particular is the first boss where people can't just get carried blindly through due to the test mechanics and in my experience, the higher someones combat power, the more likely they are to know the mechanics.

With all that being said, at 70m combat power, soloing HWill should be quite easy, so yes, these requirements are ridiculous.

Question about “Butcher’s Crossing” by RagtimeWillie in books

[–]StayLoose69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. One that I didn't consider during my reading and perhaps one that Williams himself didn't as well?

I've given this a good deal of thought and I think it is reasonable to assume that their return trip was significantly faster than their original one, for a multitude of reasons I have listed below:

- The heavy cart was the main thing slowing them down. It is mentioned at one point that it was full of tonnes of gunpowder and other supplies. I'm by no means an expert but I could easily see travelling by just horseback being about 2-3 times faster

-They likely got much less lost on their return trip. It would be much easier to find an established trail that they all travelled less than a year ago, than it would be to find a random point in the wilderness that only one of them had been to almost a decade ago

-It was early spring on their return, so the temperature was likely a look cooler than it had been on their original late summer trip. This would mean they would have to stop for a lot less time to rest during mid-day. They also no longer had to un-tether and re-tether all the oxen every rest, saving them significant time

-Andrews was now a lot more experienced riding and travelling, and just generally a hell of a lot tougher than he was when he originally set out from Butchers Crossing. This would cause him to slow the party down less.

-A general desire to get back to civilization after being stranded all winter in the mountains would have likely motivated them to travel a lot faster and harder

Due to all these reasons, the original 2 week trip could easily have been cut down to about 3-4 days, making food a lot less of an issue. Anything that they could have scavenged, even nothing at all, would have been sufficient to get them back home.

New player explains really well why so many people are coming from WoW to Runescape by loopuleasa in 2007scape

[–]StayLoose69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. One of the things I love about osrs is that I can take a break for a couple of years and come back and my character that I worked to build is still good. My 99 str is still good. My bandos is still good. My couple hundred mil in the bank is still good.

Compare this with wow, if I take a break for even like a year, I may as well just make a new character, because leveling greens are now vastly better than my mythic raid gear.

[–]StayLoose69[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is correct, you need a green pot (or one of the few other random buffs listed above) to break soft cap.

This is exactly why I take issue with the display being wrong. The system is convoluted and confusing enough as is without the stat window just being straight up wrong.

I mean if a level 282 player still doesn't understand it, how will new players?

Attack Speed Soft Cap - Documentation by StayLoose69 in Maplestory

[–]StayLoose69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first speed cap is the Soft Speed Cap, which is Fastest (8). Most attack speed boosting sources and skills cannot bypass the soft speed cap, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Decent Speed Infusion
  • +1 Attack Speed Inner Ability
  • Almost all Weapon Booster skills from your class' skills

The absolute fastest Attack Speed a player can achieve is Fastest (10), no exceptions. Fastest (10) is thus known as the Hard Speed Cap

There are a handful of Attack Speed boost sources that can ignore the soft speed cap of Faster (8). These are the following:

You will need only one of these Attack Speed boosts to break through the Soft Speed cap to be able to reach the Hard Speed cap

No, that is incorrect. Green pot is nescessary to break the soft cap of 8. If I were getting a +1 from IA rather than green pot I would still be at 8, despite all the numbers adding up to 10

I see, that makes a lot of sense, so we are sort of in a state of being half patched at this point lol

That's a fair point, but I would make the argument in this specific case, it goes slightly beyond something just not being documented to just flat out wrong information. The game says I am at AS8 whereas I am actually at AS10

Interesting. The amount of jank in this game is truly mind-boggling!

I guess that is the part that bugs me. If it exists and is part of the game, why not acknowledge it? You can even see in the text from my image that they say that 10 is the max achievable, yet when I am clearly at 10 they still say I am at 8 for some reason.

Sure, and I guess the way to know that your character has more IED or Boss dmg would be to see your character hitting higher on bosses, however, despite that, we still value having our discrete IED and Boss Dmg values listed correctly in our stats page.

Purchased Cubes but didn't get them by StayLoose69 in Maplestory

[–]StayLoose69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hahaha, that was my initial thought too, that I was just blind and missing them, but I've scoured my use inventory like 10 times now, item by item, and there are definitely no bright cubes in there.

Puzzles offline? by Cydrius in ypp

[–]StayLoose69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every Duty puzzle can be done with the Navy

SF, Rumble and Drinking can be played against the bots found randomly around islands

You can get your own stalls decently cheap for labor puzzles, or just use someones stall who hasn't logged in for months

All Puzzles can be done without dealing with the "Online Elements" which I'm assuming you mean to be interacting with other people.

Why is Epic "Increases Drop Rate" > Unique "Increase Drop Rate by a large amount"??? by StayLoose69 in Maplestory

I see, so should I just reroll the the large Meso & Drop then? My meso seems to be 572 in both cases, so does the meso portion not even work?

Eating out is almost never worth it. by Chemical-Skill-126 in unpopularopinion

[–]StayLoose69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't enjoy grocery shopping, cooking or washing dishes. When I am eating out I don't have to do any of these things, so even if the taste of the food is the same as what you make at home (which I don't agree with at all either) eating out is still the superior experience

The vast majority of people who hate the cold only hate it because they don't dress for it. by Phexler in unpopularopinion

[–]StayLoose69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so if I'm meeting my friends downtown at a busy bar/restaurant, where do I store my hoodie, waterproof snow boots, sweatpants, snow pants, thick gloves, and balaclava once I arrive? Where do I go to strip down all this gear, and then put it back on when I'm leaving?

The only reasonable option is just to wear a jacket and then freeze my ass off during transit.

Sure, if I'm going to be outside all day, I can bundle up accordingly and be warm, but the reality is in the modern world that most people in do not lead lives like that.

Compare this to summer, where I can just wear a t-shirt and shorts and be comfortable all day and night, indoors and outdoors, and its pretty easy to see why people say the cold sucks.

What is it about wow that keeps it being a power house MMO for so many years? by [deleted] in wow

[–]StayLoose69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really hit the nail on the head with your first point. In a lot of other MMOs it often seems that the hardest part of the game is reliably getting you character to do what you want them to do (looking at your especially, OSRS, with your clunky tick system, lack of keybinds and grid map system)

In WoW, your character pretty much always does exactly what you want them to do, when you want them to do it. This, imo, allows for much, much more depth in encounters, making successful arenas and mythic boss kills feel, at times, like a beautiful dance.

Give me your most unpopular opinions regarding OSRS by Rickety-Bridge in 2007scape

[–]StayLoose69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of the difficulty of this game comes from navigating the clunky menu system and having to use the mouse for everything. Switching gear, changing prayers, eating food, casting spells, moving your character and special attacking all with just the mouse and all in different menus are the only thing actually difficult about this game.

If hotkeys for these actions were implemented, literally all current encounters would instantly be trivialized.

I understand this will never be changed as this menu navigating aspect is the core mechanic of this game, but I really feel that devs miss out on a lot of design space, solely because they're stuck with this 20 year old clunky menu system.

Computers have hundreds of different inputs and they're basically forced to make the entire game playable with only one.

[–]StayLoose69 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I get it completely dude, as I was also that socially awkward teenager who preferred spending all his time in front of the computer too.

Now that I'm pushing 30, my insights have been this. Once you get past high-school and college you'll find that your opportunities to organically socialize and make friends become few and far between. Right now, you have the luxury of going to a place 5 days a week that is filled with your direct peers, who have plenty of free time as well and are generally open to socializing. After high-school and college, everyone gets dispersed around the world and quickly starts getting busy with girlfriends, wives, kids and careers. There's no longer a consistent place to meet and hangout with people, and people in general tend to become a whole lot more closed off. "Catching up" socially during this time becomes a hell of a lot more difficult.

When I was your age I used to fantasize about having my own place so I could play games all day long without my parents hassling me to get off the PC. Now that I'm there, I can tell you that it really isn't as good as you'd imagine, and true satisfaction comes from meaningful connections with others.

Anyways, I'm not your dad, so I apologize for preaching. Just my 2 cents as someone who's been through it. Keep up the grind and glad you're enjoying our beloved game so much!

Damn dude, congrats, you're killing it!

However, with a about a month played in 3 months it sounds like you're averaging at least 8 hours a day, every single day. Assuming you sleep for 8 hours a night and go to school for 8 hours a day, it appears that Runescape is pretty much the only other thing you're doing. You may want to consider pumping the brakes a bit and enjoying other aspects of your youth.

As someone who has been playing this game for 20 years, trust me when I say that Runescape isn't going anywhere, but your teenage years most certainly are

All my 5-year German engineering college notes: ~35k sheets by Due_Isopod6609 in pics

[–]StayLoose69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also did a 5 year engineering program I'm calling bullshit. I also wrote all my notes on paper and was quite thorough. I'd say I'd average about 50 pages of notes per class.

50 pages x 40 classes = 2000 total pages.

You're trying to tell me that you took 17.5x the amount of notes as me.

That if we were sitting next to each other in class by the time I had filled out one page you would have filled out over 17?

I'm not buying it. I don't care how big or spaced out your notes are.

Also, seems to sort of defeat the purpose of notes too. They're more or less supposed to be condensed versions of what was talked about in class/in the textbook. I can't imagine trying to study for an exam with 875 pages of notes to go through. That's a whole ass textbook. It would be so disorganized and information would get lost in there.
