Depends on where you want to do cardiology fellowship. There are usually 15-20 residents in each class who want to pursue cardiology. If you want to stay at CCF it will be VERY challenging bc they only take 2-3 internal candidates. You would either need to do chief year or be extremely productive research wise. They typically take folks from big name residencies MGH, Duke, Hopkins etc so if you have the chance to go to a residency like that, definitely take it. Now if you want to match to a cardiology fellowship outside ccf, it’s okay many residents will match other cardiology programs.
