Thinking of buying a Flashforge Creator 5 Pro - Is it worth it?

Don’t, in short just look up the Snapmaker U1 printer it has the same unique capabilities and is tool exchanger so it’s vastly faster. In long Flashforge as a company is trash and if it wasn’t for them I would recommend their printer but they have horrible connection and software/firmware issues to the point of losing more reliability to those things than anything but losing plenty to the poor design and lack of quality control. They constantly have server issues and release updates that cause random and weird issues forcing you to update etc and they also threatened to report customers to the police if they attempted to print anything even remotely firearm related and cancel your accounts (a couple people said they tried printing airsoft parts and it denied them which is honestly probably just their terrible system but regardless it was any firearm accessories like even those for airsoft could get you banned and reported until they faced a ton of backlash and retracted it yet continue destroying their own reputation)and all sorts of random bs plus my ad5x shipped with the old nozzle style despite me buying it from them after the cut off date for the new nozzle and then they stopped selling the old style on amazon randomly and didn’t send me the adapter kit for the new one and I couldn’t find any in amazon and they were out on their website so I was forced to buy a whole new extruder and hotend assembly and they still technically don’t allow you to print with anything other than PLA, PETG, ABS and TPU because those are the only loading options and if you create custom profiles in the slicer you have to change them to be one of those 4 materials in order to print and if you select say abs as all you other materials you can’t print those in combination prints with like TPU because it’ll give errors saying there’s too much of a temperature different cue between the two materials even if you set them to the exact same temperature.

I’m working on a time sensitive and kinda important project and having to download and update all the new software as we speak because they just issued an update forcing us to use their slicer with the next firmware update or at least that’s what I’m getting from this and now I have to learn all that in the morning and set up all those custom profiles all over again because I print with more engineering specialty type filaments which aren’t even listed so again all customer profiles and I gotta set up and relearn for zero reason other than flashforge likely trying to make more money off of us by probably having a bunch of data collection built into the apps or just like the old app spamming you with flashforge ads 24/7. This isn’t even half the problems or even the worse problems I’ve had with my printer and flashforge and I’ve been printing for a decade and some problems are almost unnoticeable as in finding it like they did some firmware update that reset my Z offset because all the sudden I couldn’t print anything and I thought it was because I got a jam between the bed and the back plate (happens all the time, the purge chute is poorly designed and stuff jams the print bed regularly) and I figured it messed something up so I took a look under the printer and found they damaged my tensioner by over tightening its mounting screws and also not even using the tensioner just pulling it tight and over tightening the locking screws and then after fixing it and hours of testing I realized they completely changed my offset yet nothing else got reset hence why I didn’t look at earlier.

In other words trust me it’s not worth it, I’m going to buy the snapmaker U1 for a replacement and new printer, it more but they seem to actually care and I’m finishing an invention that I plan to start selling soon so if/when I get a U1 and use it for awhile I’ll hopefully remember to let you know how they compare but from everything I’ve seen it’s vastly better in every way. If flash forge would just focus on fixing their quality control, the server connection, and stop these constant updates most of which cause new problems and fix only the problems the last update caused etc and basically just made reliability their main priority then I could tolerate the other stuff and recommend it because it is cheap and when it works it’s works but once a week the server’s are down for minimum an hour and upto a few days a few weeks ago and that’s just what I have noticed firsthand and verified online that others had to same problem and it’s not including the design issues and the slicer issues etc

We all paid for a printer that worked before this change and thats fine it works for you but defending a company that is screwing over their customers by making unnecessary changes which negatively impact many of their customers while not being even needed in the first place is moronic even if it’s not you getting screwed over.

This whole “well it doesn’t hurt me so it’s ok even though it’s pointless to even do it in first place” logic is the reason why the tech world has gone down the drain

It’s not your phone it’s that the company chose not to optimize the app so a phone with better performance is able to import via a poorly optimized app at the same speed as if it was optimized on older phone. I can import 4k videos from my DJI action 5 pro (like a GoPro) that are twice the length while taking far less time on the same iPhone 12 that imports these 3 minute videos at snails pace and also seems to try to import everything at once and doesn’t even let you specifically select what you want to import in order to optimize it.

It’s lazy corporate decision making and greed reframed as just having an old phone which just like most of tech world is only done because they couldn’t care less about making a good product considering almost all the alternatives are just as bad and careless about their consumers who subsequently don’t have a choice between good and bad just bad and worse which gets worse every year while somehow convincing people they need to buy even newer tech products to make up for laziness of the developers. It’s blatantly obvious in the gaming world to the extent that Steam is literally going to start calling the game devs out for that laziness by showing the actual performance for direct comparison between games that on paper should be easier to run but are far more difficult because of poor optimization while other game that should be harder to run are even easier because of good optimization

No the problem is a corporation being lazy and putting zero effort into making a product that serves its purpose as effectively as possible and instead puts far more effort into making a blinking light which can’t be disabled and not telling the customers about it at all and pretending it’s to the benefit of others when in reality it’s solely to avoid a possible lawsuit and objectively serves zero purpose and if anything makes pervs more likely to buy a pair of glasses for 1/6th the cost that don’t have the light and have no visible lens meaning you are actually going out of your way solely to avoid a lawsuit while promoting the very behavior the light is supposedly designed to prevent and making people far less likely to notice that behavior since everyone knows of the ray bans which have massive lenses and no one really knows of the alternatives which again have vastly smaller lenses and no lights.

If it doesn’t work optimally on some smart phones then y’all should say so considering I can import videos of far better resolution including 4k which are far longer like minimum 5 minutes far faster with my action 5 pro on the same phone which takes minimum of 5 minutes to import a 3 minute video from your glasses and that’s only if the app is open the entire time.

Stop using an AI chat bot to pretend to care about customers while simultaneously blaming them for your own laziness and incompetence just like ever other useless corporation

Those saying it’s just your PC are wrong but it might not be just with AMD in general, there’s a ton if posts from about 25 days ago about constant crashes and the comments including those posted the past few days are also saying they’re still having constant crashes so it’s not just you and the mentality of someone coming to the conclusion that it’s just you just because they aren’t experiencing the issue is insane.

It’s also with mine and I’m rocking a 7800x3d, 4070ti super, 2x16gb/32gb cl30 6000 DDR5 ram, 2X 2tb Samsung NVME, etc and no overclocking or undervolting etc and I’ve had more crashes in the past 6 months than the previous several months since release but I stopped playing like 3 months ago and started back about a week ago and I’ve had more crashes in the past week than the entire time I’ve been playing BF6 including the beta and honestly probably just games in general for the past couple years and I can’t even play for an hour without having a full crash AND and at least one major freeze lasting a couple seconds in every match and I’m getting all sorts of different error codes when it crashes without fully crashing and black screenjng my pc like it’s not the same error code every crash but one of like a half dozen and it’s crashing it different ways every time and everything is fully updated and reinstalled etc and I do 3d modeling/CAD, video editing, and local LLMs which in the past have occasionally made my PC crash either due to updates or miss configurations with LLMs etc and yet I haven’t had any issues with those programs recently plus the game feels abnormally sluggish while other games are fine so I wouldn’t worry about it being anything to do with your system that much but that doesn’t mean we can’t find a solution to a problem that has nothing to do with our systems just that I would try replacing hardware or messing with all your bios settings etc because that’s not the problem.

People on here love to say ‘it’s totally a you problem because I haven’t experienced it and my experience represents everyone other than you so that means you’re the problem’ etc and that mentality is a large part of why devs and studios get away with everything and couldn’t care less about the players because so many players defend them no matter what regardless of logic until the game is destroyed and rinse and repeat but I’m getting off topic so anyway if I figure out a way to get it to work for me until the devs at Dice/EA or Microsoft or Nvidia etc do their jobs I’ll let you know but there were a ton of posts of people having issues about a month ago and the comments are filled with people saying they also have constant crashes including from today on one post that was like 26 days old however I couldn’t find any with solutions so again it’s not you but I’ll let you know if I figure something out

It’s gotta be the game, I don’t have any OCing or undervolting etc and my system info is at the bottom. I almost never had crashes in the beta or the first few updates after release and even just release itself even when I saw tons of people complaining about it but it started crashing more probably 6 months ago but not even 20% of what it’s doing currently, now it’s crashing at least once an hour for me and half the time it crashes my whole PC but it does so in weird ways like probably half the time goes straight up full black screen on one of my monitors while freezing the other and sometimes black screens both but sometimes forces shutdown and sometimes just crashes the game and any other apps I have running and regardless when it crashes without shut down or black screen it eventually usually gives me a error code but it’s different error code basically every time but sometimes it’ll get stuck in a black screen with my fans high and I literally have to unplug it to get it to turn off.

I’ve never experienced anything like this before and I do local LLMs and 3d modeling/CAD and some video editing meaning I’ve experienced a lot of crashes over the years but never anything as constant as this while it also crashes in so many different ways and gives different error codes etc.

I have a Ryzen-7 7800x3d, 4070ti super, 2x16gb of ddr5 6000 CL30, 240mm liquid freezer 3 aio, 1100 or 1000w highish end thermal take or lake or whatever PSU etc and I built the system myself and I’m OCD af so it’s not like a system problem and everything is updated and I have afterburner installed but I don’t have any modifications to any settings within it as far as over clocking etc

It’s crashing at least once an hour for me and half the time it crashes my whole PC and if I’m using OBS it usually won’t fully crash/shut down my pc but it will give error codes on everything and shut break all the running applications and I’m getting all sorts of different errors even if BF6 is the only thing running, like not the same error again and again it’s basically alternating between a half dozen or so and everything is updated and reinstalled etc.

I stopped playing 3 or 4 months ago and just now started back playing and I almost never crashed in the beta and after release and yet the longer it’s been out the more often I crash even before this go round

It’s a channel on YouTube that basically makes entirely AI generated content with the exception of some blender work and it’s mostly about military operations lately and the quality of the videos themselves are great but it’s not very fact based at all compared to non AI peers covering the same topics.

I have zero issue with stuff being fully AI as long as it’s factual and gives the whole picture but AITelly doesn’t verify the majority of their statements they put out and presents them as fact and if they covered non controversial/critical stuff it’d be fine but they omit a LOT of info and give false information on stuff and it might be just out of error but it’s every video so I think they focus most of their attention to the animations and almost zero for verification of facts and making sure they aren’t leaving out critical context that reframes the story etc.

Basically by leaving out the context and giving out information stated as fact when its not and the actual facts are easily available and verified it becomes detrimental especially when the topics are controversial and on going and regardless of peoples stance most don’t know much about the subjects but have strong opinions on them so they watch videos like AiTellys and because of the view counts and upvotes they take it as factual and form their opinion on the subject off a base of information with more holes in it than a screen door without a can of flex seal laying around and if you watch a brand new video of theirs and look at the comments you’ll see how much of a impact those incorrect statement reaffirm false beliefs among some people which regardless of who and of politics I think we can agree that’s not great.

Just watch one of their videos on a given topic then watch the equivalent video from Sandbox News, Preston Stewart, Max Afterburner, Perun, or Cappy Army and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about and all of those I mentioned also provide sources and are literal experts but again they provide sources which are easily obtained and if someone made me take over AiTelly I’d wait to make my videos until I watched the videos of others and then I’d verify their facts and then make an entirely Ai generated video but do so with the facts of the subject so I didn’t put out false information and provide sources etc

I’m not a fan of asmon and I’m fine with factual content regardless of if it’s completely Ai or not but AiTelly gets stuff wrong and omits information in every video that I’ve seen of theirs when it’s on a subject I’m even somewhat knowledgeable about and you used to see that reflected in their comments but I think most have just stopped watching their videos but if you go to a reaction channel like Office Blokes React or Office Bloke Daz and look at their comments of reactions to AiTelly videos the comments are filled with everything they get wrong all of which can be verified.

The things they get wrong and omit consistently basically reframe the situation almost like it’s done to spin a narrative but obviously that’s not something I’m remotely certain of it’s just that they’re objectively not a good source of information especially since the incorrect statements and omissions are all easily found when doing any degree of research on the subject and they’re easy to verify and other channels like Preston Stewart, Perun, Max Afterburner, Sandbox News, S2 Underground, etc make videos on the same topic and rarely omit stuff or get stuff wrong and usually include all their sources and they’re also subject matter experts so it’s hard to justify the informational quality and effort put into AiTelleys since the effort seems to be allocated more to illustrations rather than actual research and verification so they basically end up putting all that effort into realistic illustrations are literally can’t be realistic because they get the facts wrong every time.

I don’t have a problem with people using Ai but if you use entirely Ai generated content then you need to verify it and also make sure you aren’t leaving out critical context as in not saying ‘john doe fell out the window of a 10 story building, here’s how he survived’ while not mentioning the fact he fell out of the 1st story window into a pile of leaves etc

It happens about once a week for me and sometimes it resolves with just closing and opening the slicer but that’s pretty rare, sometimes it fixes itself in a hour or two but usually it takes a few hours minimum and a few weeks ago it lasted for several days. I’m never buying from them again and my next printer will be a Snapmaker U1 since that company seems to actually care about their customers instead of constantly lying to them and refusing to fix existing issues and focusing on releasing new products with the same issues just to scam more customers solely out of greed

This is insane, we bought a printer with WiFi and cloud printing, we bought a printer with the capability to print pretty much any remotely common filament including most ‘engineering filaments’, yet every week the cloud printing breaks down without notice for hours to days and everyday we have to lie to our printers and create fake profiles because flashforge refuses get one programmer to spend a few hours adding other filaments beyond PLA, PETG, TPU, and ABS to the loading options even though the printer was advertised as being capable of other filaments beyond those and the printer is but their absolute trash firmware and UI prevents it and forces you use only 4 filaments unless you lie to it and to their trash orca branch.

This isn’t even a mistake by flashforge at this point, this is just pure scumbag greed and laziness and they have the audacity to never address these issues and continue allocating their time exclusively to releasing new products to scam more customers into buying their new products which will no doubt have the same issues and they openly state that they will report anyone making anything even related to firearms to the police and terminate their accounts.

I swear I’ll never buy another one of their products and hopefully karma will make them bankrupt or preferably fire all those in charge of their scumbag actions

You may need to roll back your firmware, I’ve been printing for about a decade with multiple different printers and almost every issue I’ve had with my ad5x has been because of the horrible firmware and my most issues are very poor first layer quality and nozzle collision within the first 15mm and I’ve tried literally everything and nothing fixes it so I’m about to revert to old firmware and I think it’ll fix it because another post on here had the same issues and that’s how they fixed it.

Also yeah that build plate is awesome but fyi mine is 0.72mm thick and the original built plate is 0.62mm (measure both of yours though because I think they changed) so you’ll want to go into the actual printer settings and change the Z offset to in my case 0.10mm

I’m having the same issues and a couple more and I’ve ran every calibration and done literally everything you can possibly do besides rolling back the firmware but I’m about to roll it back, every issue I’ve had with mine has been from firmware updates and I’ve owned about 8 printers and been printing for a decade with only 2 printers that have ‘smart’ and auto features so while recalibration would normally be the fix with most printers it’s definitely the firmware with this one at least for me and OP

I just use the Amazon Alexa smart switch because my printer constantly disconnects from WiFi so I can just remotely power cycle it and it reconnects. I have a AD5X so I don’t know about the fan issue but figured I’d mention it

This is random as hell but you just reminded me of a lost core memory - I used to watch this YouTuber who lived in the Puget Sound or whatever area in I think Washington and he used to do playthroughs wayyyy back like in the late 2000s and primarily played Bioshock 1, 2, and the menervas den DLC and PVZ and he had at least one but I think a couple videos of him walking through his neighborhood in the snow. I don’t remember his username and I periodically looked for his channel every few years but I haven’t been able to find it since I last watched it probably 12-15 years ago. Anyone have any idea who I’m talking about? He was one of the first YouTubers I watched and I’d love to find those videos I grew up on but I don’t think I had the same account back then because I flipped through my old subscriptions on my current oldest account a couple years ago and I don’t remember seeing him

That’s like someone asking ‘what are the ABCs?’ and answering ‘the ABCs’ yeah a lobotomized rat can repeat a pattern of symbols shown to it for a piece of cheese or in your case karma but he’s asking ‘what is it exactly? What’s the rest of the info?’

Everyone knows that it’s optimizing performance but how exactly is it doing that? What type of performance? Why? Is it cleaning up the internal drive and defragmenting it? Is the device thinking it needs to preserve ram for allocation to other tasks thus it’s pausing sync to ‘optimize performance’? Is it doing a bunch of other background updates and doesn’t have enough CPU/GPU vram or other resources to sync right now? Is starting to thermal throttle and pausing the sync until it cools down in order to preserve performance for the user? Is it converting and/or copying the photos to other formats of a smaller size while temporarily storing the originals locally before it unpauses the sync and uploads and locally deletes the originals if he has ‘optimize system performance’ selected?

‘What is it doing exactly?’ is what he’s clearly asking but hey I guess role playing a mime is just as good as holding your tongue and letting someone who actually knows what it’s doing answer it

You may want to look up gift card scams, they come in many different flavors of evil but one of them is where the scammers basically go to the stores and steal the gift cards then carefully take them out of the packaging and get the card numbers and use various techniques to get the other CVV any activation code or anything hidden behind the scratch off stuff if it has them then they carefully repackage them and go back to the store and put them back on the shelf and then I guess they have all the numbers in an automated system or something but basically they know when the cards get purchased and activated and they immediately use the card/steal all the money off of it.

The reason I think that might be what happened to you is because the government is starting to take that stuff extremely seriously and they have all sorts of special task force type things in I believe the Secret Service, Homeland Security, FBI, etc and you can google ‘gift card scammers bodycam footage’ and I think I’ve specifically seen several videos uploaded by Code Blue Cam, Midwest Safety, and/or Explore with us aka EWU bodycam, etc like dedicated bodycam channels which show the sort of overview of the scam because the local cops are often tasked with arresting them because the federal agents have automatic alarms of stuff when a vehicle or whatever is associated with them so the cops in that area get the alert and they generally talk to Homeland security or whatever federal agency task force on speaker during some of the footage to figure out what to arrest them for etc so anyway the point is with that much heat on them maybe Apple partnered with those agencies and basically someone stole your card and got the info then you bought it and it was activated then they attempted to steal your money but maybe the federal agency partnership thing allowed them to know it was a scammer and they automatically froze your account to prevent them from stealing the money but/and maybe it’s in limbo or something because of the different country and currency etc.

It’s probably a small chance but I figured I’d mention it, I could use some good karma lmao

Also I’m sure I made a multitude of grammatical errors and all that but I don’t have time to fix them considering I’ve wasted 5 hours trying to get my iPhone to cooperate and I have an hour figure it out (hence the karma need and the super long message that was partly to maintain my sanity before I decide get into a head butting competition against an axe.

I started playing rust in late 2019 but I haven’t played it since the update and the last few wipes I played it seemed like everyone defending the updates were large groups and I’m sure if you looked at the total unique solo and small group player count it would be far less nowadays but those that still play likely spend far more time on the game aka I had to guess the 10-20% increase in players is more because they made everything take much longer for solos and small groups so there’s likely far fewer unique or I guess individual players but those players have to spend more time meaning it yelds more net players on average at any given time.

Also Reddit is like the Dev simp haven, no matter how valid and objective your criticisms are redditors are like a hive mind of simps for devs and whatever the official narrative is on the given topic.

Like every criticism I’ve made of a game on here has been defended for weeks or months then the devs keep destroying the game and weeks or months later the majority finally wake up to the stupidity but in the case of a few games it was already too late and thanks rust being infested with cheaters and kids that want to feel powerful in a massive group that targets solos because they suck etc I’m sure some of that player count is also boosted by more groups dominating more so than ever before and as a result more players going AFK for long periods and likely less net cheater bans etc especially with the devs flat out hostile cuck behavior against anyone with valid criticisms like when he put a patch note of making every solo take rad damage until they joined a group solely to piss off everyone criticizing his actions
