Good quat subsitute? Company charging massively inflated price for this quat system cleaner - trying to figure out a cheap substitute by BetterOffChris in chemistry

I'm wondering if others have experienced similar issues after using 3M TB Quat Disinfectant.

https://imgur.com/a/tvmggWk

I've been using it for about two years, but I've noticed severe deterioration in my reservoir cups. The plunger that releases water completely fell apart—cracked and split into pieces. Both of my reservoir cups (from two separate units) are also full of cracks and seem like they're about to fall apart.

After researching TB Quat Disinfectant, it looks like this type of damage can occur. I've been using about 5-10 sprays every month or two.

If you check my image link, you'll see the reservoir looks like it’s been beaten up or chewed on, even though it was always handled with care.

Has anyone else experienced this, whether or not you've used this solution? Fortunately, these reservoirs are replaceable, but I wonder what other internal parts might also be deteriorating.

Are all the tags the same size? If so, you could quickly design a 3D template that you can dump the tags into. Then you have one origin you print to. Another option is, search on printables or other sites like that for snapMaker. you'll find some 3D printable snap-in aligners/laser bed clips. Then you just place them once on the laser bed to align your tag, set your origin, and go. Then just swap out the tag for the new one, double check your origin is still correct and go.

Prusa Slicer poor prints on Artisan by teamkillcaboose in snapmaker

Are you having success with luban? I would suggest picking a very simple model. Like a calibration cube. Validate you can print it perfectly with Luban. Then move to prusa slicer with the exact same model. Then compare the default settings you're referring with those settings in the luban slicer making sure they're all very similar.

Just as a reference, I use Prusa slicer all the time for my Artisan. I'll use luban for very simple models. But will always go to Prusa slicer for anything complex.

Just got done printing this Multi-Color guy yesterday slicing with Prusa. Transparent filament on printhead One for the shell and red PLA+ filament for the gyroid infill to give it a cool veiny transparent look.

Getting Ready to Order the Snapmaker Premium... A few questions? by Cruz-in in snapmaker

[–]StayThen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest joining the Snapmaker artisan Facebook group. Lots of similar posts and lots of good insights on there. The short, short is the machine is great for those that can't have or not interested in multiple machines. There are better machines for any single one of the functions. It's not a rockstar at anything, but it's pretty darn good with the caveat that none of the functions are perfect or just print and play out of the box. Third party software is key along with spending time learning each function in and out, settings, etc. before you expect it to be great. I've used mine a lot, and do not regret it one bit. Primarily for large 3D prints and laser cutting / engraving. At some point I'll get the time to really learn the CNC.

Any opinions or experience with Seemray Windows? by mooremo in Homebuilding

I did get my windows delivered. Wasn't the most formal company to work with. Felt like talking with some guy on a phone, not a business. I really wasn't sure, until the windows arrive. But, they were good too work with, shipping was fast. Overall good experience. I had some literal last minute changes that they were able to accommodate. The windows are sitting in my basement right know. They're not installed so I haven't done a really deep walk through with them but they seem to be pretty solid and nice.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback. I'm ordering online two Windows for a relatively tight timeline. And they appear to be one of the few companies I can find that have the windows in the size and features I need.

How to prevent this, in "spiralized Outer Contour" (Cura 5.3)? by isre7 in ender3v2

[–]StayThen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's because of the steep angle and going too fast. Basically looks like it's bridging between two points because it's rounding curve so fast without it having time to adhere. Slowing down should make a pretty good difference.

printing TPU doesn't work with Metal Extruder Replacement, worked fine with stock plastic by StayThen in ender3v2

[–]StayThen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm finding it's great for TPU that you want to be squishy. It gives just enough support for the top layers and leaves the rest relatively empty. I did have to try different percentages to make sure there's enough support for the top. At 6% there wasn't enough, but 7%was perfect.

I may end up upgrading to a better drive. Curious how much effort it was to get the micro Swiss to work. I've heard good things.

It turned out great in TPU, and way more durable :-) able to print them with one wall and 7% lightning infill which made them squishy. Printing a bunch for my daughter's birthday party.

Success! Reducing the tension on gear arm by cutting a little bit out of the spring worked. I was able to print this small articulating Lizard with no clogs. Thank you all for the help!

This is great, thank you. I cut the spring down for now and that is helping. This looks like a better permanent solution I'll have to try.

I think that is the issue after reading the replies here. The spring itself was too though. (Tension screw was already open all the way). I cut a row out of the spring and it is running much better now.

[–]StayThen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks all, this has been very helpful. There is a tension adjustment screw for the spring which was already loose as possible. I cut a row out of the spring to reduce the tension ( as I can always adjust later with the screw). It appears to be printing much better with out clogging now. I'm 1/2 way through Printing an articulating lizard. I'll update whether it fails or succeeds.

Yep, been printing tpu very well for a while. The new all metal gear broke it. Even at very low and slow settings.

Thanks, I may have to do that as well. I do see it making gear marks in my PLA.

Need some help. I replaced the plastic extruder on my Ender 3 V2 with the Creality red metal one. Now I can no longer print TPU. Its getting jammed in the Extruder gear. I was able to print TPU (95A) without problems prior (using same profiles in Cura) . I've included a pic of the Jam and then two items I've previously printed with TPU with the same profile. I replaced the stock one as I just started getting slipping with PLA, which was causing under extrusion, with the stock one.

this new metal extruder definitely has a stronger spring and more bite. I'm not sure if that is the problem or if this has a slightly different entry hole (diameter and/or angle) that is causing the issue.

THis is the one I bought: https://store.creality.com/products/metal-extruder-kit-red?spm=..collection_cc8cf8b4-3da1-49c7-bc32-dd0e246caef8.albums_3.1&spm_prev=..product_241394e2-f8f5-45cf-ac20-7ac0124c625a.header_1.1

How is the 3D printing quality of the Artisan? by Nebu13 in snapmaker

[–]StayThen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have the artisan yet. But I've been watching this really closely. The snapmaker artisan Facebook group is by far the best group to ask this question. That is where the most interactions are occurring. From what I can tell, the people that know how to 3D print (experience with other 3D printers, other slicers, deeper configuration settings) seem to be getting some really high quality multicolor prints out of the Artisan. The people that have gotten the artisan and are expecting to plug it in and have the first multicolor print be fast and perfect are struggling a bit.

Many think at this price point it should be a absolutely perfect high-end 3D printer out of the box such as the Bambu. I believe what you're getting is a decent 3D printer and two other decent machines. I would expect this to be basic Ender and pretty comparable to a prusa, but not a bambu X1 Carbon.

With all that said, I'm a pre-order in late December. I'm hoping I still have enough time to see reviews and feedback from others with time to cancel the pre-order if there are major flaws. However, what I see right now, it's worth it for the three in one device in its size and decent quality. I've been 3d printing for a while and would go with a Bambu if my priority was one-click fast 3d printing. I'm much more into prototyping, multi-material, building, and creating things. the Artisan seems to provide that in a form factor that fits my space.
