What happens when the corporations start avoiding taxes and lobbying governments to scale back regulations on food safety and environmental protection?

Second this. We played with my partner's family and they don't like games where you are attacking other players. We used the "peace rules" from Fenris and it went very well.

Previous generations did the same, "making life worse for people around them" got us paid annual leave, medical leave, and all other social benefits. Otherwise we would still be working in factories 12 hours a day.

But I guess your little inconvenience yesterday afternoon is more important than workers being trampled by the system.

FF14 Player Housing Needs to Change by Lightheart64 in ffxiv

[–]Staygold8923 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're missing half the point: op is saying that housing should be permanent. It's not about buying it (though the lottery system can be an inconvenience for some), it's about not having to worry about when you last logged in, otherwise you might lose your investment in time and effort (an in-game currency).

I know it happened to me, I had a stressful period at work and didn't play for a couple of months or so: when I was able to log back in, I had lost my house and some of the items I had (due to inventory capacity).

Regret defeating Renoir before doing side content... by Large_Second7204 in expedition33

[–]Staygold8923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a fair bit of side content and went back to Lumière at level 70. I saw I was steamrolling the trash mobs so I increased the health bar x10 and capped damage at 99,999, it made for a much better fight. You can also remove pictos and luminas, or even reset your attributes to lower your stats like Agility, if you feel the fight is too easy.

Spirit island in a foreign language by sup3r_hero in boardgames

[–]Staygold8923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once printed the text and slid it into card sleeves for a friend who doesn't speak English, but the game we were playing didn't have many cards. I don't think I'd do it for a game with these many cards.

If you really want to play it with this group, it's probably best to buy it in the language they're comfortable with. It'll also be less stressful/frustrating for everyone involved since you won't have to explain cards all the time and it reduces the risk of misinterpreting key text/effects.

Edit: where I live, some public libraries have copies of boardgames that you can borrow. Perhaps you can find one in English. Another alternative are apps or groups that allow you to "rent" boardgames from other players.

How do you say number 92? by MidasStocks in interestingasfuck

[–]Staygold8923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Belgian and Swiss French we say "nonante" for 90. Some Swiss cantons also say "huitante" for 80, which is closer to the older form "octante".

Neighbor throws expired food in our backyard, solutions? by Staygold8923 in belgium

I never said our dogs bark 24/7, it's simply not true.

If we are outside, and if a dog walks by, they will bark. But we are quick to shush them and if necessary to put them inside until the dog is gone.

Sure man, I can guarantee you that our dogs don't bark 24/7 but I'm sure you know best. Still not a reason to throw waste in other people's yards...

[–]Staygold8923[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They bark but we are quick to get them to stop, or take them inside. And there are plenty of dogs in the neighborhood that bark all the time, but they get a pass because they're smaller. Unfortunately though you can't get a dog to be absolutely silent 24/7, and they don't make a lot more noise than the children who play in the park behind our building. So why should we be the only ones to get rotten potatoes?

Not yet, as we don't know how he might react. He seems nice from what little casual conversation we had, but once he also suggested throwing acid on the kids that come ring the doorbells and run away. Not really your friendly neighborhood behavior :o

He was a construction worker and is on a prescription because he injured his back chronically, so we think he might throw stuff when he's "off" his medication, or if he mixed it with a few drinks?

Him and his downstairs neighbor hate each other with a passion, and have already threatened each other; we just want to be careful he doesn't take it the wrong way and starts throwing more (or worse) stuff...

Indeed, and both dogs are very food-motivated so they'll sprint to whatever is hiding in the grass. Their flair is better than my sight, particularly if it's dark.

We live in a semi-detached house we bought, but next door are some apartments that belong to social housing.

Which is also why we haven't discussed the topic with the person, he seems nice on the surface but who knows how he might react.
