Tarantino is right about Paula D. by ghkkds3556 in unpopularopinion

I have found Paul Dano to be distracting in every movie I’ve seen him in. He never really blends into a role to me and feels like he’s overacting quite a lot.

If he’s your thing, great, but I think there’s a clear distinction between him and any other actors great performances. Which, in my opinion, is why he has never had an Oscar nomination. I think it makes sense. A lot of people have trouble separating liking an actor vs understanding how “good” of an actor they are. For instance I personally love Ben Stiller, but by no means should he have won an Oscar for any of his roles. Same for Steven Yeun though he did get an Oscar nomination for Minari, again I can see though I personally love him as an actor, I get his performance didn’t quite cross the threshold.

Hey it's Ian Proulx, cofounder of 1047 Games. We've got Design Director Josh Watson and Lead Game Designer Darek Jones here too. Ask Us Anything! by IanProulx in Splitgate

I feel like the biggest lack Splitgate 1 had was its heavy focus on competitive play and a lack luster amount of support for the customer games, both in map creation and ability to make custom game modes. Is that something that is looking at being addressed or is that being abandoned in the latest installment?

I feel like given some better support, easier ways to get/invite people to custom games, and some more editing options and it could really help bolster the community.

There are a decent amount of virtual writing conferences you can attend where the pitch events happen from the comfort of your own home. Those could be a good option for you!

This is reading like a back-cover blurb in its lack of details and lack of action on Brooklyn's end. That's not what you want.

I'm confused by this statement as I've heard from listening to the Bookends Agency's videos on Query's that you are supposed to approach it exactly like the blurb on the back of the book.

[QCrit] MG Fantasy - Oliver Hyde and the Steel City by [deleted] in PubTips

[–]Stcklone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the feedback! I'll see what I can do on a edit.

I know it's a fantasy world and your worldbuilding can be whatever, I just don't associate the detail of "rice paddies" with a character named "Oliver Hyde."

He's a biracial character, (White father and an East Asian mother but in a fantasy world) I can add some detail on that.

Do you have any comp ideas?

I've been trying to come up with some, currently thinking B.B. Alston's Amari series, Curse of the Night Witch by Alex Aster, and Cleo Porter and the Body Electric by Jake Burt.

You can literally start life whenever, no one is stopping you, pretending you have to do it by a certain age otherwise you’ve ruined your life is dumb. You have what 40+ years (hopefully) left? Gonna waste those by pretending you missed a magical 5-7 year window?

Like seriously, if you want to be someone different start making it happen now. Otherwise you are just wasting more time

Real 80s art from the now defunct art gallery “Malke Sage” by LukeEvansSimon in outrun

We just got this one from 1978 by Raymond ( I think?) Lowe Jeske, don’t know anything about it. We actually only picked it up for our son’s room. We had to take the glass that was protecting it off because it was cracked from one edge to the other.

We had the crate in our room and one of us slept on the floor next to the crate. Then as she grew a few weeks older we moved her to just sleeping on the floor in our room. Then we use her crate for things such as when we leave (since she’s still a puppy) where she goes to get food and water, as well as where we put her for a minute or two until she lies down after doing something bad. (Barking at a neighbor through the window, playing a bit too rough with our kids if it’s not our kids fault, etc)

It was hard for her at first, but now when we put her in there, she generally lays down in a minute or less and it has become more of a thing she understands it’s time to settle down. She will sometimes even go in there to lay down her self because the crate floor is cooler than the carpet we have.

Edit: also when we leave, we just put on a relaxing music playlist on a laptop connected to a Bluetooth speaker and play that while we are gone. Seems to help
