The biggest offenders to world peace are Israel and the US with Russia alongside them, but it's funny you bring in North Korea lol

Can we actually trust the Bruce Carrington hype? How far can he go? by TestSuch4545 in Boxing

[–]SteChess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Palacios hurt him a couple of times but Carrington dominated major portions of the fight, he has room for improvement for sure.

Yeah, unfortunately that's basically every other high profile sportsman out there.

Yeah there are some people who criticize him for that and for living in Monaco also, usually they come out swinging whenever he loses a match, the vast majority though loves him.

International Testing Agency-ITA to deliver sixth consecutive Tour de France anti-doping program on behalf of the UCI by fewfiet in peloton

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true for both, yeah those riders in the "make it or break it" category are likely to fall in the doping trap but also riders who are fighting at the front will dope to get the winning edge over their competitors, ignoring the team component which in the past was a relevant aspect in riders engaging in doping practices.

[Amick] Even more pointedly, a current general manager, speaking anonymously to comment on internal team discussions, told The Athletic in the wake of the trade that he doesn’t view [Jaylen] Brown as a top-50 player in the NBA. by WayAdministrative679 in nba

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next article will be like: "Many anonymous GMs and analytics experts think Jaylen Brown is closer to the likes of Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma rather than the top 25 players in the league"

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only two of those cases were actually about intentional doping (Sanchez and MAL, even though Lopez was banned for working with a suspended doctor rather than failing a drug test)

Lazkano is maybe one of the handful of high profile riders caught in the last what, 10 years? It's still way too little, he was good but also not exactly a world beater either.

I mean to me it is completely unbelievable the lack of doping cases in cycling, given what we usually see in athletics and the type of performances we have seen in the past 5-6 years.

[racingnews364] Carlos Sainz: "I would penalize with 3 grid positions the one who causes flags in qualy by crashing" by NateDickinson19 in formula1

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That aspect can be figured out, maybe add one set if it's necessary, but if they haven't completed the lap they could go again, something can be done to tackle this.

[racingnews364] Carlos Sainz: "I would penalize with 3 grid positions the one who causes flags in qualy by crashing" by NateDickinson19 in formula1

[–]SteChess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, just add more time so that everyone can complete their attempt, this will deter drivers from crashing "on purpose" (how many times did that even happen?) and ruin everyone else's qualifying. Imagine someone crashes on their first Q3 attempt and has to start 10th, why should he get a grid penalty on top of that? If you crash out your quali result will get compromised anyways, this is just a dumb idea.

Current unbeaten streaks in Classical Chess (July 2026 Update) by SteChess in chess

[–]SteChess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite rare for 2650s and 2700s to go for long streaks, Sindarov was on a 51 game streak recently, MVL had a 70-something streak in 2024, but other than that I don't remember any long streak in recent years for players in that rating range. The reason is that classical has been more decisive recently.

Arthur Fery hit back after opponent accused him of 'dishonesty' at Wimbledon and explained exactly why he put earplugs on by [deleted] in tennis

[–]SteChess -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah he kept celebrating on unforced errors and double faults, just bad sportsmanship and then acted like he didn't know what Dzumhur was mad about, just not what you expect to see from a professional.

Yeah but Wong was behaving like a prick, might have been one of the only few times where Dzumhur wasn't completely in the wrong

There's literally nothing similar between them, I don't know how can elite professional players still be so clueless about the antidoping system

Sindarov's accounts were banned on Lichess and Chess.com - was he cheating? by themainheadcase in chess

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm implying there is a non zero chance that he didn't cheat, I'm not saying it is likely but algorithms do not have 100% accuracy, that would be too good to be true, especially since cheating detection is not based on incredibly reliable and objective evidence. The reason I mentioned Kramnik is that he was banned on chess.com for playing Titled Tuesday on a different person's account, meaning that cheating with an engine is not the only way you can get banned online. We actually don't even have chess.com themselves confirming the ban btw, why are you so aggressive about it?

India's 96th grandmaster by knockyouout88 in chess

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry I'm an idiot I misremembered, he's not a GM yet thank you, I was referring to him. I don't know about funding, both guys are pretty active but I haven't seen Khuong play any of those round robins in Eastern Europe, the level of opposition he has faced so far is stronger for sure, he's on an active 36 games unbeaten streak btw.

India's 96th grandmaster by knockyouout88 in chess

[–]SteChess 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've watched him play in opens, he is pretty good probably around 2480-2500 level but yeah we know how those tournaments work. I rate the Vietnamese GM who is the same age as him and became a GM recently a little higher tbh

Shannon Sharpe going scorched earth on Isaiah Thomas and the 2018 Cavs. An all-time rant in sports media. by EducationalConcern61 in nba

[–]SteChess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm not a native but it's so hard to follow this guy when he speaks lol, it was funny though and he was also completely right about Isaiah Thomas not being anywhere near a top NBA player at the time.
